Sean Connery vs. Harrison Ford
Who do you pick and why of these 2 latter 20th century action heroes? I'll go with Harrison Ford now even though the only roles he played that were any good were Solo, Jones, Deckard, but i like Ford's regular bummed out routine.

I can't choose between Connery and Ford, I like these two equally, both for their similarities as well as their differences, they're both very good in what roles they've been given. -kd5-

Re: Sean Connery vs. Harrison Ford
I kind of dig that 1985 - 1989 period of Harrison Ford. The Witness, Frantic, Mosquito Coast, Working Girl era. When he was actually acting, before he turned into a right zombie. Connery, on the other hand, can elevate almost any movie he's in to watchable status, even a total turdfest like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or Just Cause or that Catherine Zeta-Jones shitburger.
Connery is larger than life, the aforementioned "presence", by sheer charisma he owns every scene he's in and then some. There's an underlying current of menace and dark humor to even the lightest of his action roles. I gotta give it to him.

I like Connery, but frankly other than the Bond movies and the Untouchables he's been in an awful lot of garbage. So has Ford, but the golden run of movies he did from 1977-1997 or so redeems him. Ford has proved himself outside the Indiana Jones/Han Solo franchise, while I never quite felt like Connery broke free of Bond.

Sean Connery, in addition to the Bond films and the ones already mentioned, a sampling of what you've all forgotten:
TARZAN'S GREATEST ADVENTURE
THE LONGEST DAY
MARNIE
THE HILL
A FINE MADNESS
THE ANDERSON TAPES
ZARDOZ
MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS
THE WIND AND THE LION
ROBIN AND MARIAN
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER
ROBIN HOOD, PRINCE OF THIEVES (awesome cameo as King Richard)
RISING SUN
FIRST KNIGHT
Sorry, but Ford's just a pup next to Connery.

I wish there were a "neither" option.

Connery. He still had the ability to play the toughest guy in a movie at 66, even in a movie built on macho posturing and populated by characters who were Marines and Navy Seals.
Ford at 66 might have still been Indiana Jones, but an Indiana Jones that a nearly 80 year old Connery could still kick the crap out of.

I'll never understand Sean Connery and the "Highlander" movies. A guy who *NEVER* covers his Scottish accent should have been a shoe-in for a Highlander....and he gets stuck as a Spaniard.
Despite this, Connery gets my vote.

Close, but I have to give the edge to Ford. I've liked the majority of his movies better than Connery's, never been a huge James Bond fan.
Connery is the better actor, but neither are terrific. Connery also aged a hell of a lot better than Ford.

In a bad film Ford is unwatchable.
Connery makes bad films watchable.
He is MAGNETIC in The Rock, a film that doesn't have any reason to be good, and wouldn't be good without him.
