Definitely the cheapest I've ever seen the Chosen Collection (previously was $85 at Costco), but having bought all 7 seasons separately for $5.99 each at Best Buy years ago (and only having gotten halfway through season 1) I don't need the Chosen Collection. I don't remember its details... I think it had some extra bonus content and nicer packaging. Not worth $70.99 to me just to get a bonus disc and a box.

$5.99 a season? Wow, that's good.

Back in the day, $70 barely got me the first two season of the show. But complete seasons on DVD were still a new concept and Buffy was the first series I remember having a reasonable retail price to begin with. Compared to what the X-Files sets were going for at the time, getting Buffy for $35-45 a season seemed like a reasonable deal.

I cringe to think how much the price has fallen for this show, but hopefully it will encourage others to check it out.

Did they change the packaging or is that first picture wrong?

Yes, both it and Angel got new packaging recently. I haven't seen them in person but I can't imagine either of them saving that much space.

It also says 39 discs... does this set NOT include the bonus disc from the original "Chosen" boxed set?

good catch...was thinking of pulling the trigger but that would definitely give me pause...

EDIT: Amazon now has this note:

"This item has been repackaged and customer images you see may no longer apply to what is received. Buffy: The Complete Series no longer includes the bonus 40th disc."

Why the heck would they not include that disc anymore?!

I received my order today that I placed on the last night of the sale (October 22), and I did indeed get the Chosen Collection with all 40 discs, not the repackaged version.

That's interesting. I bought mine the first day of the sale and they sent me the repackaged version. Not a big deal for me though.
