I've never seen any of this series, but I thought I'd mention the complete series was $79.99 at Amazon back in July and $79.99 at Walmart.com in August, so $13.99 x 10 seems quite steep. I may also be imagining, but I thought I saw today (or yesterday) that Amazon had the complete series set for $93.99. I must be imagining because people would be talking about it.

I bought the individual seasons (new releases) and have had no problems at all so far. Knock on wood.

And I also was thinking about picking up the Complete Series Box Set but after reading the reviews about the scratching and poor disc quality I'll pass.
Also, look at the warning Amazon put on the complete series listing:
This is a multi-disc product with tiered cardboard sleeves as the main method of disc storage. Please take caution when taking each disc out of the cardboard sleeve, as rubbing the back side of the disc against the other discs will lead to scratches.

Just finished ep 1 of season 1 on netflix's instant Q. Enjoyed it. Am I missing anything on extras by not getting the discs?

I love Stargate, but the extras are mostly painfully hokey. I do like the commentaries though. That said, for this price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy the discs.
