Lowest i've ever seen this set. You know the deal, Amazon gold box is only for one day.

Is this a good show? I hear its a spinoff of Buffy the Vampire Slayer which ive never seen either.
Seems like a somewhat safe blind buy @ $10 a season.

I haven't watched my Angel series yet because I only made it to the second season of Buffy. Unfortunately other things are taking priority and pushing my movie/TV watching way back (to almost nothing). I shouldn't even be reading or posting here due to not having time, but old habits die hard.
I wouldn't have bought the Angel and Buffy series as blind buys, but I got every season for $5.99 each from Best Buy back in late August 2007 and I couldn't resist at that price. Considering we're unlikely to see any more deals like that, $51 for 5 seasons is probably about As Good As It Gets now.

As much as I loved Buffy The Vampire Slayer, I think I actually like Angel more. The shows sort of go hand-in-hand and you'll be missing out on a lot of background on Angel (the character) if you don't watch Buffy. So you don't really have to watch Buffy to watch Angel, but it helps.

You might want to pick this up now because of the price, but I would watch Buffy first. You won't really be lost watching Angel first, but your not going to get the most out of it either since most of the cast from Angel started on Buffy.

I got an e-mail alert about this early in the morning. I happened to have a $50 giftcard that I probably would have used for blind buy blus, but paying only 99 cents for this, something I've wanted forever, was not possible to pass up.
My only concern was an HD release of the show, but we're not getting much current stuff, so I don't see it happening at all. Or we'll be streaming most of our HD content before I see them releasing Buffy or Angel on BD.

Angel & Buffy
For the uninitiated, to get the most out of watching the show, you really need to watch Buffy and Angel at the same time, in the original airing order. Buffy season 4 coincides with Angel season 1.
The storylines intersect at various points in the series. One pair of episodes actually begins with a Buffy episode that seamlessly continues into the Angel episode that followed. Literally. I think Buffy rolled off the edge of the screen into the Angel episode.
You don't have to do that, of course, but it makes it a much more fun viewing experience -- and it makes more sense overall. You can either start alternating Buffy/Angel at season 4, or there are lists that tell you the points where it is crucial that you see the corresponding Buffy episode first. Google 'buffy angel episode order' or similar.
When it was on the air, I didn't really pay much attention to either series. Later, when I was in grad school, I occasionally had long bouts of free time and zero social life, so I started sampling sci-fi/fantasy series I'd missed.* Fell in love with the shows and Joss Whedon's quirky works.
*Farscape is another amazing show. When it was on TV I was completely disinterested in a "low budget star wars rip-off with muppets."
Being able to watch a show from start to finsih with no commercials makes such a difference. Don't miss it if you enjoy sci-fi -- it was so funny later on when Ben Bowder and Claudia Black both joined the cast of Stargate SG1! At some point I need to track down Lexx -- and I've held off on watching Firefly until I really need a good sci-fi fix.
