Favorite Dario Argento Film?
I'd have to say that my favorite of his films that I have seen has to be Four Flies on Grey Velvet.
It used to be Suspiria. I remember being on Amazon the night before Grey Velvet was released and saw the pre-order option. The next day I went to the local Best Buy and picked up a copy. After I finished the whole movie I realized this was his best film (in my opinion).
I think it's the ending that made it my favorite.
What's yours?

The truncated version of Deep Red is tops for me, then The Bird With the Crystal Plumage. Opera is up there as well...if only that ridiculous ending had been reconsidered.

Bird with Crystal Plumage is my fav. The music by Morricone during the opening credits is just AWSOME! Opera would be my next favorite.
I want to see FOUR FLIES, but the Mya version is supposed to be horrible. I guess the audio is all screwed up on it. Is there a good REGION 2 version of it? Please let me know and I'll buy it immediately.
Also, which is the best dvd version for Deep Red?

As far as I know, there is no good DVD version, unless you want the 126-minute cut (a.k.a. Profondo Rosso), which is like a completely different (and far inferior) film. It includes a lot of lighthearted footage of Hemmings tooling around in his cute little yellow car and romancing Daria Nicolodi (I think), material that I find incongruous with the rest of the film, and which was wisely edited out for the 96-minute cut.
Anchor Bay released the full-length version many years ago, but as far as I know, the 96-minute version is only available in those Brentwoodesque 50-film collections. The quality is, of course, pretty atrocious.

I've always been a fan of Tenebre, Suspiria just never did it completely for me. I think Suspiria might be the best looking, most artistic Italian horror of all time, but the ballet plot just doesn't float my boat.
And those Mill Creek 50 movie sets are awesome! I think Phenomena (Creepers) and Unsane (Tenebre) are found on those, too. Brentwood were the innovators, though.

Love Tenebre!
It used to be Suspiria but lately I've really been diggin' Phenomena. Not his best technical or coherent film but it's batshit crazy. I love the vibe.
Who knows....next time someone asks I'd prolly say Phantom of the Opera.

It appears that the REGION 2/AWE dvd of DEEP RED might be the best available for this title, right? It's got 2 versions of the film plus tons of xtras. Anyone have this edition to confirm?

I always keep flip-flopping between Deep Red,Suspiria, and Opera. But at the moment, I'd have to go with Suspiria.
Still can't believe I haven't seen the uncut version of Tenebre yet.
