Decent opening for WS2, though I thought it might hit the high-20s. Great holds for The Town and Easy A. I might have to go see both. That Emma Stone is just too damn cute.

I sure hope The Town beats Legend of the Guardians.

It would have had it not been for Guardians playing in an extra 700 theaters. The Town could be one of the "mainstream" films that cracks the top 10 BP list.

Also, Guardians is playing in a record number (I believe I read that) of 3D theaters.

Warner Brothers: setting the stage for mediocre 3D films for years to come.

What's so appealing about Wall Street 2?

Shia, PG-13, appeals to youngsters who like the what-if scenario of 'living large'.

It also has the recognition of being a sequel. There's a lot of people who adore the first, and would at least be curious to see the second (I'm in that boat).

Some of us really like Michael Douglas too.

I'm sure there are people going to Wall Street that don't even know it is a sequel. It isn't 'Wall St. 2' & the first one came out a few decades ago that they might not have heard of it.

My girlfriend actually didn't know it was a sequel until after we saw it.

WTF? Have you actually seen the movie or are you just shooting ignorance out of your ass?

Of course it's the latter.

What's so ignorant about it? The movie was mediocre and the 3D didn't blow me away either.

Some amazing 3D output from that studio. Outstanding if I must say so myself. However, you didn't get the 'jest' of my initial post, so why bother?

Is Wall Street 2 playing in 3D anywhere?

They tried but couldn't find a camera that would give LaBeouf any depth.

That's a pretty sad opening for You Again. Kristen Bell can't get a hit to save her life.

Inception finally drops out of the top 10.

Excellent hold by "The Town".

In terms of other releases:

The Virginity Hit did $300,000 on 700 screens. $429 PSA for the entire weekend, yikes. Considering The Last Exorcism cost less than $2 million to produce, I'm assuming this must've cost less than that. However, who knows how much Sony spent on promoting it with their various virgin billboards across the country.

Buried did $104,000 on 11 screens. I'm assuming Lionsgate wanted to see a higher weekend gross before releasing it wide in two weeks. Especially when other new releases like:

You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger did $163,000 on 6 screens.

Waiting for Superman did $141,000 on 4 screens.

Enter the Void did $43,000 on 3 screens.

Based upon that, I don't think Buried is going to do that well when it goes wide if it opened on a whimper.

Also Catfish did 835,000 on 57 screens for an over 8k per screen average. Rouge is def happy with that and will prob continue to expand its theater count
