I loved Scott Pilgrim and was sad to see it isn't doing as well at the box office as it could. A lot of the aftermath seems to be talking about Michael Cera and the (to me) rather unfathomable strong hatred he seems to get from some corners. If you don't like him, why? I'm quite curious at the rather vivid reaction he gets when there are many other far more annoying stars out there IMHO.

True, he has a "schtick," but I think he does it well and hey, Woody Allen has also had a schtick for the past 40 years or so and I have yet to get tired of it.

Anyway, love or hate Cera - and why?

Personally, I like him but I can see why others do not. He essentially seems to be playing the same character in all of his movies with just slight variations.

A shtick gets old fast. Look at Jack Black.

I'm indifferent, he's got his thing and sticking with it until they stop paying him for it. Can't fault him for that. Just about every actor's got their own persona that doesn't really change from role to role.

I like the guy and he's good at being the uptight nerd, but he's also following in the footsteps of Jon Heder and that's not a good thing.

Can't stand him. You can't argue that every actor has his own persona because Michael Cera doesn't change his tone, inflection, delivery or anything. The only thing that changes in his movies are the words he says.

He is like the other 2 kids in Superbad, good in small roles but can't carry a film for shit. I actually prefer Mintz-Plasse over Hill or Cera but thats because he hasnt been shoved down our throats.

Just kidding. I like them both, but they've got to branch away from those roles if they're going to last much longer in the business. When my wife starts asking if Michael was the one from "Zombieland" and if Jesse was the one from "Juno", I realize that she's probably not the only one.

I used to like him and now I'm just tired of him. Scott Pilgrim looks interesting but I'd rather have seen someone else in the lead. I'm tired enough of his schtick that I'd avoid any movie he's the lead in.

I also didn't like how he seemingly held out on the Arrested Development movie.

Having said that, if I was a one note actor I would gladly play the same role over and over until people stopped paying me to do it.

Sure he doesn't play roles that are very different, but neither do plenty of actors. And I've enjoyed all of the movies I've seen him in. Some, like Superbad, are among my personal favorites. And considering it all started with Arrested Development, another favorite, and now Scott Pilgrim is my favorite movie of the year... I got nothin' against the guy.

Eisenberg comes off as less goofy and that's why I think he's more tolerable. I look forward to seeing what he can do in The Social Network.

I enjoyed him on Arrested Development and thought he was consistently one of the best performances on the show. He had great comic timing for someone so young. I don't dislike him now, but I've truly hated some of his movies. Paper Heart and Juno were irredeemable and Youth in Revolt was very hit or miss. The previews for Year One were so painful that I couldn't bring myself to give it a chance. I did like Superbad and am hoping Scott Pilgrim is good as well. I guess I'd vote the 'meh' option. He's an actor I enjoy who seems to lean towards choosing film projects I hate.

It depends on the role. In Juno and Nick and Norah not so much. In Youth in Revolt, Scott Pilgrim and Arrested Development I liked him. He was great in Superbad...perfect, actually. It was like the role was written for him. And who else could do those announcements in Childrens Hospital? I never gave Year One a shot and Paper Heart bored me.

I don't give a shit what the fuck Cera does. He himself has bearing on me wanting to see a film or not. If it looks cool, I'll see it. If it doesn't, I most likely won't. All I care about it whether it's a film I'll like and/or that it's good.

If you really think Michael Cera plays strongly similar characters in everything, I would say you are not watching what he's doing very closely. The three that really stick to his comic "home base" are probably "Arrested Development", Superbad and Year One, but he's very different in Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

I really like him, Think hes pretty funny and does a good job in the movies hes in. Though he usually plays the same character but he usually always plays likeable characters
