Re: favorite movie of 1956
^yeah this was a good year, i try to do years that arent talked about a lot (for example 39, 74, 94 would be boring) or not do a year where most would pick the same movie.

Brain wasn't thinking when I saw it listed, but you're def right. It was the U.S. version that got me going on that kick.

This one is so easy for me, I don't even have to think about it (mostly because it was the year I was born, so deciding on my favorite film for that year is something that happened a long time ago
).
Forbidden Planet, hands down.

Forbidden Planet was probably the very first sci-fi movie I ever saw and thus, kick-started my love for that movie genre.

Good year. I'll call The Searchers since it's so iconic (and just AWESOME in HD), but Body Snatchers is a really close second.

You'd have to see Back From Eternity with the great Rod Steiger. You want to talk about inspirational pictures....about personal sacrifice, integrity, and redemption. The film left me with a lump in my throat.
When, I say WHEN, will this great picture be available on DVD?? Geesh!

My personal favorite movie from 1956 is the bad girl classic OVER-EXPOSED starring Cleo Moore which was released on DVD by Sony earlier this year.
Runnerups would be three other blonde bombshell vehicles: BUS STOP starring Marilyn Monroe, THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT with Jayne Mansfield, and BABY DOLL with Carroll Baker.
