Now she is directing episodes of United States of Tara and According to Jim? Did she get blackballed?

Well, she was a producer on some movies as recent as 2005, like Cinderella Man and Bewitched. (Maybe the latter hurt her career?) She's 67 now, so it's possible that she's just semi-retired.

On the other hand, there are rumors that she's been battling cancer.

I wish her the best but I was never impressed with her filmmaking skills.

I imagine being a woman director in hollywood is pretty tough, no matter who you are.

I liked League of Their Own. Bummer if the cancer thing is true.

She may be fat, but it looks to me like she did things right.

She started working regularly as an actress in her 20s.
By the time she was 40, she had starred on one of TVs most popular shows.
Soon after that, she started directing movies and made seven (three of them are good).

Now, she's in her 60s, and apparently she didn't piss away all her money, so she doesn't have to work, and only occasionally does so when it's for a friend.

None of those are bad, Flash is borderline but the others are all good films 3 of which are something to be proud of no matter who the dir was.

Obviously the Lakers can't win if Penny is going to hide the basketball under her shirt like that.

She is an amazingly talented person. I enjoyed every aspect of her career.

And from the looks of that picture, she has enjoyed you a lot as well.

There have been stories that she is not in the best of health, which may explain the weight gain.

Never liked her. Didn't know she did Big and A League of Their Own...so I guess I do like her work on those. Beyond that...don't really care about her. HATE HATE her voice...

I heard it was the steroids she was taking for the cancer treatments that was causing her to blow up like that.

Hah! You hate her trademark voice. Her brother has the same voice just deeper.

That said, personally, I was always a "Shirley" fan.
