I was really looking forward to this but...

"The "Wanted" sequel has apparently been cancelled after Angelina Jolie pulled out of the project reports Vulture.

According to the column, Universal decided to pull the plug on the film instead of recasting the role. The first film's helmer Timur Bekmambetov was set to direct and James McAvoy was going to return as Wesley Gibson in the film which was to shoot later this year.

Instead Jolie is now expected to star in the space thriller "Gravity" which Alfonso Cuarón ("Children of Men") is helming for Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures."

I still dont know how her character was going to be back anyway...

I guess the video game will have to serve as a semi-sequel.

GRAVITY sounds a hell of a lot cooler if you ask me.

This makes no sense at all. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

That said, ditching Wanted 2 for an Alfonso Cuaron movie isn't exactly a bad move.

I would love to see another Wanted film, but there is no need to bring her back.

I read an interview with the director of the first film not too long ago, and the process of bringing her back was discussed;

Not that I was clamoring for a Wanted sequel, but it was ridiculous to have her back and even more ridiculous to scrap the movie because they couldn't get her. It would have been like scrapping The Dark Knight returns because Katie Holmes wasn't returning.

WANTED was a pretty fucking stupid movie anyhow; not to mention the fact No amount of fucktard "bullet curving" or "wax baths" can change that. More importantly, doing anything to help make an Alfonso Cuarón project happen is a REALLY smart move. So thanks Angelina.

Wanted was a decent ride, and the setup was there at the end to see Wesley exhibit more badassery in a sequel (which would have had potential), but if they wanted Angelina back for more then . They should just get OctoMom to replace her.

Also, I was never clear on how the whole wax bath ritual worked to heal injuries. Is that something like the poor man's bacta tank?

That said, the first on was only good during the final shootout and it took too damn long to get there.

I actually loved the first 45 minutes or so of Wanted, then it dragged, then had a cool shootout.

Wanted is good as a stand-alone film. Sequels are not necessary.

It didnt need a sequel, but I would of seen it, It doesnt need Angelina Jolie, Even though she was hot in it, she still was way too skinny. Theres many hot chicks in Hollywood that could replace her.

Her performance and/or her character were boring and added nothing to what was already a ho hum movie.

So I guess I'm cool with this being scrapped.

I absolutely hated Wanted. Plus, I don't see how they could have made a sequel that would have made any sense with what happened to her character.

Was she really needed for a sequel. When did actors like this get to affect an entire project?

I bet the only reason Wanted even got greenlighted was because Angelina was involved. Without a big name star, there was no way Universal would greenlight this "sequel" with only McAvoy returning.
