Movies that Sucked, But You Went to See Theatrically due to Boredom

I could say this accounts for about 80% of the movies I saw as a teenager in small town America with the movie theater being the only place where something would be new.

However, there were times when I was younger that I knew deep down the movie wasn't going to be that great, but I was so bored I went anyway. Ironically, most were ones I attended when I came back to visit my parents in small town America for the weekend or holidays.

-American Werewolf in Paris

-Domestic Disturbance- I had forgotten this movie existed or that I had seen it, until someone mentioned it in another thread.

-Kull the Conqueror

-Dead Man on Campus

-The Spirit

-Dracula 2000

-The Pink Panther -remake

-Home for the Holidays

Maybe it's because I'm an old man of 37, but life's way too short to waste time seeing movies I think will suck.

Now a days it seems that if I didn't see movies that sucked I would never get to go to the movies

Or, they are making a lot of shitty movies recently, which is what I'm going to go for. There are a few movies I liked but those are very few and far between.

I was having transmission work done on my car a few years back, was stranded at the mechanic's for a few hours. Walked across the street, saw Poseidon. BLECCH.

I don't do it anymore now that I'm older, unless I just really want to get away from the family for a while.

I could have a better list of films that sucked, but I went to see theatrically because I thought I would get laid afterwards (and did not).

This list would include winners like:
- The Devil Wears Prada
- Fun with Dick and Jane
- A Guy Thing
- Hollywood Homicide
- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
- Kicking and Screaming
- The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
- Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde
- Mr. & Mrs. Smith
- The Prince and Me
- Roll Bounce
- She's the Man
- The Stepford Wives
- Wicker Park

Thankfully, my track record from 2008 and moving forward is a little bit stronger. Ahem.

My friend and I did leave Dreamcatcher upset we spent money on it, only to theater hop into Boat Trip because we had nothing else to do that afternoon. Now that was a mistake.

Two that stick out immediately for me are Supernova and Wagon's East. I'm still not over them.

Double Take/Sugar & Spice.

I actually went to the theater alone. Payed for Double Take. Left the theater. Went straight to the ticket window. And payed to see Sugar & Spice.

*shudders*

Seen a few of these kinds of films now that I have dollar theaters in the area. I think the last one I saw was Year One, which I hated.

Shitty movies that got me laid include...
My Super Ex-Girlfriend
Mona Lisa Smile
No Reservations (although I do dig the original german film, heh)
Music and Lyrics
Catch and Release

heh.

I also saw a sneak preview of Master of Disguise for a date (my senior year of high school, I believe) and the girl never talked to me again not did I receive even a handjob. Bitch.

I thought Jennifer's Body would be bad from all the negative buzz about it when I walked into it after Zombieland, but I really liked it.

It usually takes a well reviewed movie to drag me to theater, but I did take a date once to see The Island of Doctor Moreau. That movie really creeped me out.

I also liked Jennifer's Body. I didn't think it was that bad.

I went and saw Poseidon because an ex-gf (that I'm still on good terms with) is in it...

I saw every single mainstream release at the theater when I worked there, from around Fall of 2000 till Winter 2003. Hmmm. I was there for all of the stinkers. I remember being offended by how stupid Tomcats was. That one sticks in my head as "the worst". There was such an overconsumption of movies that I really don't remember them all too well. But I did see ALL of them.
