Actors That Switched Their Typical Genres?
I was thinking with Vince Vaughn being pretty successful in comedies nowadays and how he was in a bizarre-o role like in Domestic Disturbance. Then it made me think on how Leslie Nielsen was a dramatic actor and switched to comedy years down the line.
Who else is like that? Maybe someone that was dramatic and went comedic or was comedic then went dramatic? I just know anytime I see Domestic Disturbance on TV now it's hard not to laugh as it is since Vince Vaughn isn't remotely believable as a psycho.

Don't forget that Vince Vaughn also played Norman Bates in the 1998 remake of Psycho.

Not quite movies ... but Bob Saget was a pretty foul comic when he landed the role on Full House ... most of America didn't know his background and accepted him as the "Mr Clean" father figure ... then he went back to dirty stand-up ... one of the funniest things I've ever seen was his cameo in "Half Baked" ... of course, I didn't know his background at the time (which made it even funnier) ...

Not exactly, his character is very comical in Boogie Nights. In fact, his character in Magnolia was pretty comical also. He did do some serious stuff, but using Boogie Nights as an example is a bit off.

I would tend to disagree somewhat. His career has always been a mixture of comedy and dramatic work. His earlier dramatic work was usually with a comedic undercurrent to it, like The World According to Garp and Good Morning, Vietnam but it was there, interspersed with more straight comedy roles. His first straight dramatic role that I recall (Dead Poets Society) was still pretty early in his career.
It seemed like a lot of people were suddenly saying things like "Whoa, Robin Williams is a good dramatic actor! Who knew?" when Good Will Hunting came out. One had to be pretty oblivious of the man's film work prior to the late 90s when GWH came out to feel that way.

I don't think I've even seen one movie this man has appeared in, but I've heard that Paul Rudd has been doing this lately.
