DVD Talk review of 'Bonanza: The Official First Season, Volume 1'
I read Paul Mavis's DVD review of Bonanza: The Official First Season, Volume 1 at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=39220 and...This is long, long overdue, although I hate the fact that Paramount is splitting the seasons into two volumes. The early years of Bonanza are the best, as the show later fell into a very rigid and predictable formula, especially after Pernell Roberts left. In this first season, the Cartwrights haven't yet acquired their "uniforms" and the opening "ride in" is more constricted.
Let's hope The Virginian is next on the list of classic TV westerns to hit DVD.

You may get your wish about THE VIRGINIAN.

Bonanza is a FUN show to watch.
IMO, After Adam left the series it just didn't have the same feel.

Thanks for the Virginian link, Will. Everything seems a bit vague at this point, but the fact that somebody at the studio is talking about it is a plus.

I loved Bonanza when I was a kid. I even went to the Ponderosa where they filmed the series. The show kinda went downhill when Hoss died.
