What do you think the plot would be for a 2-3 hour Sopranos movie? The way I see it, with the majority of the cast dead (and I believe that to include Tony, based on links provided in the “Made In America” thread), the following plots are possible:

01: if they wait more than five years, they can make a continuation of the Sopranos saga with the surviving cast – including A.J. as Boss after toughening up following his father’s death. This would not be the movie everybody would want, but it is a possibility. There was once talks about a Sopranos “prequel,” about Tony’s father Johnny-Boy and his brother Junior, but I think the ship sailed on that due to the aging of the actor who played Johnny Boy Soprano.

02: If the actors can manage to lose weight (to appear younger), the film can take place four years prior to the series finale.

Any other thoughts?

The majority of the cast can appear in the 3 hour dream sequence.

I think a "Dream Movie" would be the way to go. Plus, it can be a good way to satisfy the masses that didn't believe Tony died..........

the movie can start off at Meadow's wedding. Daddy is there, so is Christopher and Adrianna, and Ralphie, and Tony B, and all the rest of the whacked-pack. After 20 or 30 minutes of the wedding, Meadow wakes up alone in her bed, drenched in sweat - apparently a nightmare?

The next 20-30 minutes can be a storyline involving Carmela, ending with her blinking away tears from an apparent daydream; and so-on..........

the very end of the movie can be one collective dream/memory for Meadow, Carmela, and A.J. - staring at Tony's dead body at the booth, with blood spreading from his fatal head wound. Closure.

Any story-line involving giving A.J. any amount of power or responsibility would be difficult to swallow. Without his father around to groom and legitimize him, A.J. would have no chance at taking over the family business.

I would like to see a movie about AJ getting killed and Tony getting revenge.

I think Carmela would take over for Tony.

AJ would never be a boss in 5 years. If he tried he would be dead long before that.

I don't believe Carmela has the contacts, knowledge, or knowhow to run a mob family.

I don't know how you could do a movie with so many main characters dead other than his family.

The problem is they killed off anyone we would want to see running the family now. One of my favorite characters, Christopher, should be the boss, but they kept him as a weak junkie and killed him off. I suppose a good way to do a sequel would be to start off with the shooting in Holstens, I think that was the name of the restaurant, and after the black screen have tony wake up. Basically saying the entire last year was one of Tony's very vivid dreams. That would work for me given his extremely trippy and wonderful dreams from seasons past.

Otherwise, my favorite way for them to do it would be this:
Tony is in fact dead, as is most of the rest of his crew. The power vacuum in Jersey has basically left a boss-by-name-only in Paulie or someone else who can be manipulated by New York. This is where the new story starts off. Meadow and A.J. are so torn by what happened to their dad that Meadow creates an alliance with A.J. to get revenge. A.J. has been moving up slowly in the ranks over the last few years because he has his dad's balls and has developed some street smarts. However, the brains behind A.J. is Meadow. Basically, with Meadow being the boss behind the scenes, A.J. rises up and takes over Jersey and then crushes New York to become the big boss for everyone. Of course in reality it is Meadow who is the boss and this would come full circle into the whole Junior as boss with Tony pulling the strings from behind of the earlier seasons. I really miss my sopranos and I think Chase could pull off this storyline since it isn't too far from what has already happened. Not to mention, can you imagine how hot Jamie-Lynn would look being all dressed up the whole season and having so much power? Also, I never hated A.J. that much, I always assumed from the flashbacks that Tony had a similar awkward adolescence and that A.J. was following almost exactly in Tony's footsteps. Tony did some stupid shit when younger too, and I always felt that if they kept the story going, A.J. would end up being the new Tony eventually but that Christopher would take over until he was ready.

I could go for a 2-3 hour movie of this but only if it is in HD and they use some great camera angles.

Meadow and AJ have grown up too sheltered to have that story be remotely plausible. They would be eaten alive.

Imagine calling A.J. "Tony?" I don't see it.

Please don't make a Sopranos movie. Tony is dead. End of story.

I wouldn't mind them continuing exactly where they left off, as long as Tony dies at the end of the film. Just use the two and a half hours to fill in some of the gaps, give some resolution to Paulie Walnuts, so on.

I like the ending for the show, but in no way would I not be interested if Chase/Gandolfini were involved.

Best television show ever. Bar none.

I doubt it will ever happen, whatever the plot.
