DVD Talk review of 'Kukla, Fran and Ollie - 60th Anniversary Premiere Collector's Edition'
I read Stuart Galbraith IV's DVD review of Kukla, Fran and Ollie - 60th Anniversary Premiere Collector's Edition at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=38269 and...
I think you are as wrong as can be. You seem to seriously have something against this product. My parents loved this show and are in their late 70's and are slow to learn new technology. As A matter of fact, I had to order it for them on the computer because they couldn't figure it out.
The greatest thing about all the DVD's is it's one show per DVD. Just insert one show and it plays. No searching through menus trying to locate the show you want to watch. It's definitely a product geared for the people who grew up loving the show. Not for some person looking to buy a collection at Walmart for $29.
If you want superior jewelery you go to Tiffany's. Not Walmart or Target.
In this day of buy as much low priced low quality garbage as you can. A product like this comes along and you sir seem to be a hate monger. I'm disgusted with your review, it almost appears as if someone put you up to it.
As far as I concerned, as a reviewer, I will never read anything you write again. The fact the you mock the people who put this product out with your "dee vee dee" attempt at a joke, shows what kind of lame, unfunny, jerk of a human being you are. It's a good thing you have this job because as a comedian you would be starving and homeless.
Ever think that they're might not be any extras around from that time? I own the Honeymooner's Collection and I don't remember any extra's on that?
You should crawl back into the cubicle you came from and bury your head in the stacks of BS you write.

So let me see if I understand you - you like this product because it's overpriced and designed for people who can't figure out the most basic functions on a standard DVD player and DVDs?
Sorry, not me. I also highly doubt you'll find many like-minded people out there who prefer one 25-minute episode per DVD with no menu screens to DVDs of TV shows with four-to-eight episodes per, with menu screens, extra features (in some cases) - and for a lot less money.
You're also responding in a hostile way to a review that isn't hostile at all. Go back and read it again. I like the show. I don't like the presentation and I give reasons for this which, I dare say, most informed consumers would probably agree.
(And, by the way, plural, non-possessive nouns don't require apostrophes.)

S Galbraith IV,
I think you were punked. But I found the post from "Jeff Crush" good for a hearty laugh.

Maybe, but the same kind of awkward writing and punctuation appears on the DVD's packaging, making me wonder if this wasn't someone associated with the product.
...And some readers really do get offended by the weirdest things!

On the contrary, Mr. Galbraith's review is the only one that has been "on the money," so to speak, about this set. There is a very high quality Howdy Doody set available for $29.99 (and usually under $20 on Amazon) with 40 shows and a disc of extras. It is well packaged and includes a beautiful photo book. It would have been nice if we could have gotten something similar for Kukla, Fran and Ollie. They certainly deserve it.
Too many people have to think with their wallets these days and will pass this product by due to its $45 price tag. It is too bad because the Kuklapolitan charm is just what we need in these dire times.

I am not associated with the product. But since you're so smart in correcting my punctuation. Maybe you should remove the RentIt! Since the only place you can get the series is on the website. They are not for rent anywhere that I have seen. You are misinforming your loyal fans. You don't want to do that now, you might lose them. Why you have them, I don't know.

Since you have not found this set for rent does not mean that it is not available for rent. How do you know that these discs are not carried by an independent video store?
In any case, the 'rent it' rating doesn't mean that it is available for rent. It means that the set in question is worth watching but not worth paying the retail price. We assume that our loyal fans can figure that out. I think that's why they stay with us. In our reviews we try not to talk down to our readers and we are not afraid to give out negative recommendations if the title warrants it.
