Good Movies that You Do Not Like
I know this sounds kind of strange, but I have seen several movies that didn't really do it for me or left me feeling not so great, but I could not deny that they were well made films and worthy of the praise they receive(d).
Some examples:
Schindler's List- Great movie, but I can't say the viewing experience was a barrel of fun. I know it wasn't supposed to be, and that was the movie's strength. I think the movie deserved Best Picture and all accolades hands down, but it's not something I enjoyed seeing.
Doubt- Great performances, great script, but it left me feeling empty.
Rachel Getting Married- Anne Hathaway does a great job and like the docu-style shooting. But it is hard to watch due to the sensitive nature.
Amadeus-I won't deny that it is a well made and sometimes intriguing movie, but after seeing it I didn't feel the need to ever see it again.

Two soap operas-
Gone with The Wind
Terms of Endearment
Two that are so ugly, for me they're unbearable
Raging Bull
Rules of the Game - the hunt was a huge turn off
Many others...

I think Gone with The Wind is way overrated. yeah, it's production value is huge but....I never thought it was a good film. So I guess that's my pic.

The Wrestler - Aside from Mickey Rourke's amazing performance, I was extremely disappointed.

My all-time least favorite movie, & to this day the only film I ever walked out on is Forrest Gump.
I also could never get into any Fellini & Ferris Bueller's Day Off annoys the shit out of me.

Cannot stand any modern day British gangster flicks ( Snatch, Lock Stock, Layer Cake)
Really disliked Run Lola Run as well.

People say Blade Runner is great, but it bored me to death so I'll go with that.
Haven't seen Snatch or Layer Cake, but Lock Stock was a horrible horrible movie. I don't care what anyone says, I will never consider it a good movie. It is shit.

I'll probably get shit here for it, but I'll say all the Godfather movies. While I could appreciate the acting in them, they did absolutely nothing for me.

The Wizard of Oz...I've managed to avoid watching it start to finish throughout my life on purpose.
It's a Wonderful Life...actually, any black & white movie in general. Any time I've watched a movie from that era I see nothing but boring static shots, dated ideas and overacting. They all look like "plays on film" and just bore the piss out of me.

Forrest Gump - I just don't get it. I remember that summer of '94 and it was one of those rare movies that the critics loved it and it did huge box office, and I finally saw it and wondered what the big deal was?
TaxiDriver - I love Scorcese, but this one just bored the hell out of me. I watched it again just to make sure it wasn't me, and it was just as bad.
The Return of the King - Loved Fellowship, absolutely loved Two Towers, but King just seemed too long and too redundent with too many battles, and too many endings. (In fairness to PJ, he was just going from the book.)

There are some classics that have not aged too well. The John Wayne movie Red River is one that I cannot stand. I will say that when I started this thread I didn't necessarily mean movies everyone else liked but you didn't/thought were bad. I meant movies you realized were good and could see their appeal in cinema, but just didn't enjoy the viewing experience.

this isn't a movie you thought was good and did not like (thought was bad)...it is a great movie that dealt with subject matter that is very difficult to handle/take and made for a difficult experience emotionally, but you would certainly enjoy the movie for how it was made, acted, shot, feel, etc...
i mean i know i sat in silence/in awe with the rest of the audience for 15 minutes that night before we left. it was shocking and horrifying, but an incredible movie then and now.
i think that is different than not liking/enjoying a good movie, no?
there are tons of movies that deal with harsh/extremely difficult material that i love such as SL, The Pianist that while they deal with unpleasant subject matter i love for all the merits of the movie, but i certainly don't love the atrocities bestowed in each.
