John Hughes Has Died (2/18/50 - 8/6/09)

John Hughes has died of a heart attack.

Hughes suffered the heart attack while taking a morning walk during a trip to NYC to visit family.

He directed such hits as "The Breakfast Club," "Pretty in Pink," "Sixteen Candles" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

He was 59.

Story developing...

Damn. That sucks.

Thanks for everything, Mr. Hughes. Both with your movies and going to those movies with my friends, you gave me some great memories.

Damn, that sucks. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is one of my top 3 favorite comedies.

Edit: fixed title error.

Wow, the news hasnt hit the major wires yet, but I see he is described in past tense on wikipedia.org. This must be a record year for celebrity deaths. Says he died while jogging.

The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off are two of my favorite movies of the 80's... or, well, ever, actually.

TMZ seems to frequently scoop the mainstream press.

Oh man, that brings back so many good memories for me: my first year of college in Los Angeles and hanging out with my friends.

RIP John

So much for Ringwald's sought after Breakfast Club sequel.

May have to watch BC and Weird Science in tribute this weekend. Some of the best 80's movies ever.

re: John Hughes Has Died (2/18/50 - 8/6/09)

I was in high school when Hughes series of great high school films came out, so those were a huge part of my life. Sad to see him go so soon.

Kind of glad now that he chose to retire young and enjoy his life.

They don't make films like his anymore, save for "Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist", which I liked so much simply because it felt like a John Hughes film.
