Re: Favorite parody films

In my opinion, Airplane set the standard and no other movie has met that standard yet.

Re: Favorite parody films

While Airplane is the classic to which all others are compared, I think Top Secret is the better movie.

Is Murder By Death considered a parody movie? If so, that one is amazing.

I actually do as well. I think they progressively get better from Airplane to Top Secret to Naked Gun.
I don't know why but for some reason the funniest moment in movie history for me is when the soldier falls off the wall and shatters on the ground.

The Naked Gun Trilogy. Easily my most quoted film trilogy. I just caught the first one the other night on Spike at like 3am and it was just as funny today as it was 20 years ago.

Gotta go with Airplane! as well. The hit-to-miss ratio is pretty high.

Re: Favorite parody films

Is This is Spinal Tap considered a parody since it was a rockumentry? If so that is the best. And i think im the only one in the world that found Airplane! to be one of the dumbest movies ever. Im convinced Leslie Nielson couldn't be funny if he tried.

Spinal Tap was absolutely a parody, but of rock bands, not other films. And yes, you are probably one of the few people to think Airplane is the dumbest movies ever. Also, hyperbole will get you everywhere.

Re: Favorite parody films

There are only so many, so most of the ones I would have named have been singled out in this thread already. However, I'd like to make special mention of Scary Movie 3. Lots of people found it stupid, and it is, but I thought it had great timing, and there was equal emphasis on the dialogue jokes as there was on crotch hits and sight gags, making it the last parody movie worth watching.

On a related note, I couldn't even get through 35 minutes of Scary Movie 4.
