This must mean that Dr. Dre's new album he is supposedly working on will probably be at least another year away.

Dre doesn't have anything to do with Death Row anymore.
Suge Knight owns all Dre's old stuff, he can release it as many times as he wants.

In other words, buy it NOW before the unlistenable squashed-and-maxed re-remaster becomes the only version available.
Yes, re-remaster. The version currently in stores is already a remaster.
I bought 2Pac's 7-Day Theory album about a week ago. It was remastered in 2005. The engineering on it is so awful that I can barely listen to it. I also have the greatest hits CD, which has two songs from that album. The greatest hits CD's copyright date is 1998 and it sounds better by about a millionfold.

I remember listening to this back in 1992.
I got the original CD from Tower Records in the same year so I assume that is the original CD.

Suge no longer owns the catalog, the catalog was purchased in a bankruptcy sale earlier this year by some outfit. I'm really curious to hear the unreleased songs, I've heard some rough copies of some of the cuts so it'll be nice to hear them in (presumably) good quality.

I just want the hear the original California Love with the 3 Dr. Dre verses. If you didn't already know, Suge made Dre give the track to Tupac.

the original california love, along with keep their heads ringing and a song floating around called my life where supposed to be on the chronic 2, the true followup to the chronic. but since dre left death row, the chronic 2 was shelved and keep their heads ringing was given over to cube's friday soundtrack.
i wonder if chronic re-lit will include the song hoe hopper, which was cut but came right before let me ride (the songs blend together). hoe hopper is also referenced on the chronic 2001 in some of the lyrics i think.

As for the album itself, my original is ready to be replaced b/c it skips so badly I can't even upload it to iTunes. I'll be on the lookout for one of the original releases out of fear that the remaster won't be too great.

When I read the title of the album I figured it was all demos and unreleased tracks from those sessions. Instead, there is...nothing new? Wow thats an extremely retarded reissue.

Re: DR. DRE: "The Chronic Re Lit & From The Vault" -9/1/09
I read that Dr. Dre sued somehow or another and has stopped Death Row from releasing any unreleased tracks with his verses on them. So we'll probably never see stuff like the original "The Next Episode" that was originally set for Doggystyle.
As far as the tracks included on this, "Poor Young Dave" is classic early Snoop while the others sound like "Doggfather" era Snoop, including one with a timely Michael Jackson "Baby Be Mine" sample. Snoop has had a lot of stuff come out from that era.

Oh, and why do they put unreleased music on a DVD? Shouldn't that be on a CD? Idiots.

There are actually three versions of that song, the most familiar Deep Cover version of course and two versions of the "187" version that has completely different lyrics, one with the same backing track as Deep Cover and one with an altered backing track. Anyway, you should look into the 15 Years on Death Row collection and then the "Death Row Singles" collection, specifically at Best Buy as they have bonus tracks. Great stuff.

This wasn't sanctioned by Dre at all. He was too busy doing that new Dr Pepper commercial.
Seriously, I want Detox this year but now that 50's supposed final release for Before I Self Destruct is in November, that leaves Relapse 2 in December then Detox next year. Fucking a, the 7 year wait between The Chronic and 2001 was bad enough but this is getting ridiculous.
