DVD Talk review of 'Armchair Thriller: Set 1'

I read John Sinnott's DVD review of Armchair Thriller: Set 1 at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=37757 and...

The "bug" is a cue dot, used to tell the various UK broadcasters that a commercial break was coming up soon. Many of the ITV networks used them during the VT years.

Thanks Chris! I knew about reel change holes in film, but I have never heard of something similar being used for video tape. I'll alter my review to reflect the new information.

Most likely you've never seen them before since it looks like American prints of ITV stuff had the cue dots removed. I've got a recording of Children of the Stones taped off Nickelodeon in 1984 that doesn't have them, yet they're present on the DVDs.
