Are you sure you should even be voting in a music tournament? You haven't heard of most the bands and every round is the same. It's not that hard this day and age, especially since you obviously have an internet connection, to listen to the bands/artists in question.

Some juicy match ups here:
#1: Stones, can't stand Jeff Lynne, who pretty much ruined music in the 70s and 80s.
#2: Elliott Smith, gotta go with the hometown boy.
#3: FNM, although this was the hardest choice yet for me, big fan of both.
#4: Brian Eno, huge fan of his stuff, a large portion of my collection is very influenced by his music.
#5: The Clash, I like Dinosaur Jr. but The Clash trumps em.
#6: Tool, not a big fan of either really but Jeremy Enigk is too whiny for me.
#7: Louis who?
#8: Velvet Underground, another toughie it's hard for me to believe I just voted against John Lennon, but as a solo artist he can't match the achievements of VU.

Hold on just a damn minute here. The Velvet Underground vs. John Lennon?
Sophie's Choice was easier than that.
BTW, I would never vote for Louis Armstrong - the guy may have been the single most important figure in the development of jazz, but he had total disdain for the bop movement and its practitioners. I really have no patience for musicians who are close-minded about music.

These were all easy for me. The hardest one was deciding which I couldn't stand more: Velvet Underground or John Lennon. I voted for Velvet because I actually like about 3 of their songs.

The last one was the tough one. But Hixx said it best:
And if Eno loses against They Might be Giants I will be upset.

And yes, because I've never heard of the oh so popular & musical sensations known as "Sunny Day Real Estate", "Elliot Smith", "They Might Be Giants", "Brian Eno", etc., I clearly have nooooo right to participate in a music tourney. Yeah. Gotcha

Musical preferences vary. Deal.

You have Royal Tenenbaums and Fight Club so you've heard both of these. Elliott Smith Needle in the Hay is playing when Richie tries to kill himself in Royal Tenenbaums, The Pixies (Where Is My Mind) is in Fight Club, at the end of the movie. Since I don't listen to the radio, I end up hearing a ton of music the first time in movies.
