Dvd Recommendations - Dramas with an Ongoing Storyline?
I want to fill out my collection with more tv on dvd. I am most attracted to shows that have a continuous storyline. Examples would be Lost, 24, Alias, Prison Break, The Shield and The Wire.
Are there any other series like this? I hear NCIS and CSI wraps everything up per episode. What about Burn Notice? The Closer?

If you want to go for overseas action/dramas, I've been addicted to Spooks - or MI-5 as shown in the states on PBS and A&E. While the entire series isn't one massive storyline, there have been 2-3 seasons that contain a plot which I thought were pretty good. Just a thought. I prefer on getting the sets from amazon.uk as they are priced at about $15/set, but you do need a region-free player. You can pick up the MI-5 sets here in the states, but some some reason they're a lot more expensive.
The only other series I got into like this was Alias, which i thought was pretty good up until the end.

I"m the same way. I can't watch Law & Order because of this. That said, NCIS, The Closer and Burn Notice are all pretty episodic- but they have enough of a continuing storyline to keep me happy. I love all three shows. Although, I guess NCIS would be the weakest in the storyline department-the cast keeps the show constantly entertaining even when the story doesn't progress.
Some others off the top of my head:
Babylon 5
Buffy
Angel
Wonderfalls
Gilmore Girls
Homicide
Six Feet Under
True Blood
Dexter
Weeds
actually, pretty much any of the HBO or Showtime dramas, and most of the comedies fit this.

And what's wrong with Wonderfalls only having one season? It's a continuing storyline that does get wrapped up nicely in the end, unlike a number of other shows canceled after a single season.
And speaking of that, Freaks and Geeks and My So-Called Life are two more one season shows with ongoing storylines that I'd suggest.

They are kind of dated by today's standards, but you could try "Roswell," "Popular," and "Felicity" (all old WB dramedy's)

The BBC drama I reviewed, "Skins", has a continuous storyline for the first two seasons, and then it switches to a new set of characters for S3 (which I haven't seen). The main character of S3 is a supporting character in the first two seasons, so I guess that is technically still continuous.

I've been addicted to Lost and Battlestar Galactica for the continuous storylines - so addicting. Unfortunately I'm looking for a Battlestar replacement now so I also appreciate the recommendations.
