Daybreakers - Vampire movie from "Undead" directors

Trailer

"In the year 2019, a plague has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind."

Ive been awaiting something new from these guys since "Undead". Which was my favorite of all of those movies from the zombie Renaissance from a few years back. This one looks pretty interesting.

hmm, looks like a fairly original idea, I guess.

I'm not big on vampire movies but I may check it out.

Re: Daybreakers - Vampire movie from "Undead" directors

I thought Undead was a complete piece of shit, but this looks absolutely phenomenal & refreshing (an attempt at a new twist, not some adaptation from a novel or comic). LOVE Dafoe's line in the trailer & Ethan Hawke is one of my absolute favorite (& extremely underrated) actors.

The trailer looks awesome, but the first thing I thought of when I read the premise was I Am Legend (the book, not the movie.)

Kinda like the cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up that Hill" in the trailer. Anybody know who the artist is? Trailer looks like a bit like "I Am Legend" mixed with equal parts "Matrix", but it looks promising.

Damn...January 8, 2010?
anyway...I kinda see it as a bit of a twisted version of I Am Legend too...like an inversed version of it.

A cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" by Placebo, off "Sleeping With Ghosts".

I enjoyed Undead (minus the final act) and have been wondering for a while what the Spierig Bros. were up to.

Trailer looks interesting.

Re: Daybreakers - Vampire movie from "Undead" directors

I think this looks very very interesting. I was gonna say before watching the trailer that I am kinda Vampired-out but this looks refreshing. So visually it looks interesting and the plot sounds fun.
I also like that they hired real actors like Hawke, Sam Neill, and Willem Dafoe instead of the typical nameless CW rejects.
Looks like what underworld should have been.

It's one disc 2 of my copy of "Sleeping With Ghosts", although the American rerelease of "Meds", which came out a few years after, also features it.

Re: Daybreakers - Vampire movie from "Undead" directors

I thought Undead was probably one of the worst zombie movies ever, right up there with the Dawn of the Dead remake.

This movie looks like another dumb gimmicky sci-fi movie... like I, Robot.

After all the hype Undead got upon release, it sucked. Another victim of the hype machine

Ill check this out, though.

It could have been the stupid story, the totally unlikable, moronic characters, the dumb plot twist, and the idiotic ending. There just aren't enough synonyms for stupid.
