Glastonbury Music Festival 2009
The annual (continual) mother of all music festivals is happening this weekend, and for some of us, who get Sirius/XM, BBC Radio 1 will be broadcasting sessions/highlights of the festival. Personally, I've never been, but the festival while music centric is really a whole little town - comprised of film, theatre, performance art, poetry, comedians/acts, a mini-circus, a kid's area that is constructed for a three day event every June on Worthy Farm. I am not even going to bother listing all the musical acts that are playing, but the headliners this year on the legendary Pyramid Stage are Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Blur - a myriad of bands/singers/dj's are spread over some 20+ stages. Perusing the lineup always is interesting in seeing how ecclectic the lineup is and secondly who's dropped back into existence, case in point (and my personal musical tastes):
- Eat Static
- Badly Drawn Boy
- Dodgy
- Smith & Mighty
- Dirty Vegas
- Stereo MC's
- Tindersticks
- Banco De Gaia
- Red Snapper
- Dreadzone
- The Egg (I wish they'd make another album - or release a live album since they are one of the few bands who play almost every year)
- Lamb
- Unabombers
- Altern-8
