What is your favorite movie decade?
What with all the decade topics going on...
The last favorite decade poll didn't include the current one since it was from a few years ago but now that we're almost done with this one i thought it would be good to do this poll again and see how our opinions have changed!
I'll go with the 60s for Spaghetti westerns, Bondmania, sword and sandals, fantasy, horror, all the b-pulpy movies that really tap into that wavelength. Second would probably be the 80s for the action/scifi/fantasy.

Definitely the 80's. There were a lot of great dramas, but this was a decade of fun movies, too! Special effects were starting to come into their own, thanks largely to people like George Lucas and his company, and movies were just generally entertaining! In fact, when I began building my DVD collection, I started with all the movies I used to watch with my friends on the weekends.

70s. Films from then tried harder and while the fashions, etc. may seem dated, if you look harder the storytelling in the movies then pushed boundaries in ways few do today.

i'm split with the 1980's to today
don't like most of the so called classics from the 50's and around that time. i think they tried to hard for drama and a lot of it is overacted. and with the racism back them it looks very silly these days when you have a white woman playing Cleopatra or a caucasian playing an asian man.

I know I am hedging in my answer, but the best 10 year period for me was 1975-85. I can say that I have seen ALL of these movies a zillion times, and no other time period comes close to these.
1975- Jaws
1976- Rocky, Bad News Bears
1977- StarWars, SlapShot
1978- Superman:The Movie, Animal House,
1979- Alien,
1980- The Empire Strikes Back, Caddyshack, Airplane
1981- Raiders of the Lost Ark, Stripes
1982- ET, 48 Hours, StarTrek II, Fast Times at Ridgemont High
1983- Wargames, Risky Business, Vacation, Return of the Jedi
1984- Ghostbusters, Sixteen Candles
1985- Back to the Future, Fletch, The Breakfast Club

70's for me followed very closely by the 80's. A lot of great stuff like One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The French Connection, Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Dawn of the Dead, and Jaws. Although now that I think of it several of my favorite films come from the 80's: Back to the Future Trilogy, Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2, Batman, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Empire Strikes Back, and the list could go on and on.

70's, for me, had some of the greatest movies (like 'Mike' mentioned), but 80's were so schlocky and memorable that i give it the slight edge.
