House or Battlestar Gallactica?
I need help here people! Do I get House seasons 1-4 for £39.99, or Battlestar Gallactica seasons 1-4(.0) for £27.99?
I've been interested in House for ages, and I still haven't pulled the plug, the reason i'm not sure if to get it is i've just finished 7 seasons of the West Wing and am enjoying character dramas more than the format of house. Should be a no-brainer, but Battlestar season 4.5 comes out soon and it will be about £27, meaning the Battlestar collection goes over the price of House. Dillemma!
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

House is the exact same formulaic thing every episode.
Battlestar Galactica has moments of absolute brilliance.
I'd go with BSG.

I think this question actually belongs in the DVDTalk section since your not really asking about the shows themselves, but whether or not you should pay XXXX for that DVD set.
But, it depends. Do you like Science Fiction or Medical procedurals more? If you want to know which is probably worth the money and has better replay value, then I would go with Battlestar for you DVD needs.

BSG easily, but TallGuyMe and Deftones both tell the truth: this show has moments of absolute brilliance AND moments of pure stupidity. Watch BSG for the brilliance (usually at the beginning and end of each season) and just wade through the "filler" episodes which are stupidity defined.

Get the complete series of BSG that's coming out in the summer. I LOVE House, but once you've watched it once, you'll hardly ever revisit it - plus, you could easily only see 10 eps per season and not miss ANYTHING... Battlestar has a lot more replay value and you'll want to watch it quickly once you get hooked...

I've only watched BSG from start to finish, and House only here and there, but as noted House tends to be pretty formulaic. Even when BSG stumbles, it throws it's weight into the fall, tucks into a roll, and comes up smelling like roses a few eps later.
And Exodus Pt 2 is one of the finest hours of TV ever (sci-fi or otherwise).

I'm siding with House on this one, while it does get repetitive, it's an absolute blast of a show.
BSG does have moments of brilliance, but once it starts going downhill it never stops.
UK doesn't have USA. Though it'd be kind of funny if it did.

Galactica, for all the reasons stated above. I love the cast of House, and their chemistry together, but the formula gets old fast.

House is a show I watch every week and love. Yes, it is formulaic, but its a darn good basic formula, and the underlying story does progress from time to time, with character growth/change.
BSG is a show I watch on DVD in season long blocks and love. Definitely overrated, as others have mentioned, it can be quite mediocre.
If I had to choose one or the other to own forever, it would be BSG, but partly because House is syndicated and available daily. If I didn't have cable, it would be a tougher call, but still BSG.

Yep, here is their story about it:

Apparently, the repackaged S1 released back in February now has 16x9 enhanced transfers....
(I'd still go with BSG over House though, love me some BSG, can't wait to get the complete series on Blu-ray in two more months!)

Good info, thanks. However, be aware the non-anamorphic sets are still out there and they they appear to be identical. Hopefully the packaging correctly lists the contents.
