Marilyn Manson "The High End Of Low" 05/26

Can't believe there is no discussion on this here. There has been two singles released from it already along with the several leaked tracks, and they all seem to be great to me. This is coming from someone who loved everything they put out up to and including Holy Wood and hated, nay, loathed The Golden Age Of Grotesque and Eat Me, Drink Me. So, needless to say, I am very excited about this new album. Discuss.

I'm looking forward to it as well.

Like Imail724, I really disliked Eat Me, Drink Me (terrible misstep)...however, wow, The Golden Age of Grotesque to me, is his ultimate masterpiece. What an album, I listen to it quite a bit. It's got energy, balls and attitude. Amazing record....

We're From America is a welcome step back to TGAOG and earlier...hope the rest of the album isn't disappointing...

Ugh! I get sick thinking about TGAOG, especially since it came out right after Holy Wood, which, in my opinion, is a fantastic album. Nothing will ever beat Antichrist though.

probably haven't had much discussion because manson has drifted into "irrelevant" status with an inability to reinvent himself into something interesting that was the trilogy of ACS, MA, and HW. three great albums. the last one was garbage, and i have no real expectations, nor do i really care.

I was vaguely interested when Tim Skold was in the band, but now not so much.

If it's more of the same from Manson then I won't care for it most likely. I feel at this point he should try something quite different, industrial blues or some shit.

I gave the song a listen to and im vastly disappointed. The lyrics are just terrible. No creativity at all. Sucks i saw him in concert about a year ago and he was amazing.

"We're From America" is beyond-words horrendous. EM, DM was a weak album, for sure, but this sounds like it could be even worse. Manson is so irrelevant in today's musical scene, and the saddest fact is that he doesn't even know it. People don't care about him anymore. His schtick is tired, and this is coming from someone who was a Manson fan since Portrait... He needs to figure out a way to make people over the age of 13 give a shit about what he's doing and this isn't the answer.

I tried listening to Eat Me, Drink Me recently and couldn't make it through. I love Golden Age though. From what I've heard so far on this is much more like Eat Me, Drink Me which isn't a good thing for me.

It leaked. It's fucking fantastic. I hated, nay, loathed, their last two albums and this is the comeback I've been waiting for. I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies is absolutely phenomenal. Even if you hated their last two albums, like I did, definitely do yourself the favor of checking this out.

Yeah, I heard half of the album. And it's pretty fucking great. Big surprise stinkin' Rolling Stone gave it a 2.5/5 review. I wish they would just stick to pop culture. And stop reviewing albums altogether. Because is there anyone who has taken that rag seriously in the last 20 years?

Re: Marilyn Manson "The High End Of Low" 05/26

anyone hear of this
"Raymond Legendre of DailyComet.com reports that a 15-year-old student at Larose-Cut Off Middle School in the Lafourche Parish of Louisiana shot himself in the head on school grounds this morning (Monday, May 18), moments after firing an errant shot at a teacher who refused his order to praise Marilyn Manson.

The eighth-grade student, who is in critical condition at Terrebonne General Medical Center, left behind a suicide note in which he detailed how he planned to kill others and then himself, Sheriff Craig Webre said.

Classmates of the gunman, who they identified as Justin Doucet, said they were surprised by his actions, but noted they found his love for Marilyn Manson and knowledge of Adolf Hitler facts to be odd.

Read the entire report from DailyComet.com.

it seems to be another one of those blame the artist for something a fucked up kid did, instead of blaming the parents

Clearly, it was a publicity stunt sponsored by the band. Clearly.

In all seriousness, I'll check this album out. Like some of the others here, the last two albums did nothing for me, but I still have a soft spot for the "trilogy" of albums.

Re: Marilyn Manson "The High End Of Low" 05/26

While the album is better than his last 2, this thing he'd been doing of just repeating lines and verses over and over is really just distracting...and it's almost EVERY song.

It seems he's trying too hard to be "Marilyn Manson", and going for the shock rather than making a good rock n roll record.

Actually...the more I listen to it, the more un-impressed I am.

There's only about 2 good songs of the bunch....the rest are too much like EM,DM.
