Anyone see "Laid to Rest"?
read Justin Felix's review here and it seems good, but i also read somewhere and didn't really like the others that were mentioned which are similar in "Behind the Mask", "Hatchet" was ok though. seems like a decent little unknown slasher...
Walmart has it for $9.96...blind buy? rent?

I enjoyed it. There's not a ton of story but you've got a cool looking killer and some gory kills. I found it reminiscent of some of the 80s slashers.

I really enjoyed this film as well. It definitely delivered what is expected of a solid Slasher Film (IMO)
I haven't seen Behind The Mask, but I don't think that this film and Hatchet are similar at all. I found Hatchet to sometimes be very tongue-in-cheek and humorous, whereas Laid To Rest has a dark tone throughout the film.
As EdTheRipper mentioned, the gore effects are fantastic (done by Almost Human FX) and there are some very memorable kills.
Chrome Skull is a fantastic villain and I actually appreciated that the director didn't bog his iconic image down by explaining back story on him.
Though the film does fall into a couple of horror movie cliches, I am actually surprised how many it actually dodges in the meantime.
Definitely surprised at how much I enjoyed this film. One of my favorite DVD's of 2009 so far.

Plus to top it off you have cameo appearances from Thomas Dekker and Lena Headey from Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

didn't really like this. i thought the dialogue and Bobbi Sue Luther's acting were atrocious. Chromeskull was cool and the kills inventive, but there was nothing else to hold my interest. the situations and going from here to there and back again just seemed weird.
just wish there was a little more substance and much better dialogue.

I also thought Bobbi Sue's acting was the weakest of all the characters - which isn't a good thing being the lead (I'm sure she was a shoe-in considering she's the director's wife). I also thought the film could have been shortened by about ten minutes, granted it's only a 90min movie at one point it did being to drag. Technically it's an impressive movie, great cinematography and excellent makeup special effects. oh.. and the fact that it was shot almost entirely in Maryland - a local film so to speak

Looks pretty impressive for a direct to DVD slasher. I'll have to check this out soon after seeing who's in this film: Kevin Gage, Lena Headey, Richard Lynch, & Johnathon Schaech....

This was a really fun movie, but the characters do the dumbest things and the plot is so ridiculous.
Characters use stupid, non-plausible, excuses for not leaving the town. No one has a phone in this day and age. Come on.
I will not use that "it's a horror movie, so I will accept the problems with the story excuse." I have better expectations for horror films then to stumble into cliches. I don't care if its a slasher. There are ways to be original.
And that entire sequence when
I didn't have a problem with the acting. It was average. Nothing more.
The kills were kick-ass.
I had high hopes for this one but it ultimtaley fell short.
