DVD Talk review of 'The Robe' (Blu-ray)
I read Stuart Galbraith IV's DVD review of The Robe at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=36696 and...he is mistaken that the picture-in-picture comparison of the Scope and flat versions of THE ROBE are only accessible "through BD-LIVE" and an internet connection for one's Blu-ray player. The P-I-P option is clearly encoded and available on the disc from the "Bonusview" menu.

That's odd, because when I click the BonusView option, all I see is a list of what are full-frame "chapters" from the "Real-Life Search for the Robe." I can play those, but not as P-I-P. The "Robe Times Two" doesn't appear at all anywhere on any of my menu screens. One reader wrote suggesting that perhaps I need to a firmware update to activate it - my last update was in October - but if I'm somehow missing it, I'd sure like to know where it is!

I was watching the disc last night; when I hit BonusView I believe the "Real Life Search for the Robe" option -- as simple text (not chapters) -- comes up first (I haven't seen what this looks like when engaged to play) but you have to use the L/R arrow buttons to access "The Robe Times Two" text option (a lateral reveal) w/on/off buttons; after entering "on," I believe you're then taken to "Play" on the main menu and off you go. At least this is the way I can view it on my Panasonic BD-35K player.... Perhaps, as you suspect, you may need a firmware upgrade on your player to view.
There is an amazing amount of material crammed onto this disc!

One other very minor comment--stereo LPs first came out in 1958, not 1957. There were a very few stereo reel to reels available at the end of 1957.
