DVD Talk review of 'Andy Richter Controls the Universe: The Complete Series'

I read Jason Bailey's DVD review of Andy Richter Controls the Universe: The Complete Series at http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=36606 and...had one question: Is the original music from the show retained? If I remember correctly, there were several pop songs used during the course of the show (a couple examples: "The Hustle" during the funeral scene, and "We Belong" during a fantasy sequence between Andy and the receptionist). So...songs intact or replaced? Thanks for the review!

Songs have apparently been replaced, based on some quick research and the warning on the packaging (which I should have noticed). Neither of the tunes you mention are used, with fairly generic disco and pop cues replacing them. I've ammended the review accordingly. Music replacement always blows, but I will say that, as a first-time viewer, I'd have never noticed that anything had been changed.

At any rate, thanks for reading and for the heads-up.

that does blow. i remember "We Belong" at least and it is a good song to boot and to have it taken out just taints the hell out of this set for me.

I understand the music rights issue to a slight degree, and don't expect (although wish) older titles to always have original music. But why don't modern shows negotiate home video rights into the original agreement? If I couldn't get total rights for a song for my show, I'd move on to another song.
