Best Plasma for Bedroom?
I realize that there is no need to top of line TV in my bedroom due to fact that I don't watch the TV that much; however I don't want to buy a complete junk set.
I know Dynex is BB brand; however a buddy of mine has one and it has a pretty nice picture. Is it worth an extra hundred to move up to LG or an extra $300 to get the Panasonic?
Does anyone have any experience with the Dynex, Insignia and Vizio brands?

Please. Do you expect any answer here other than Panasonic? They can be found for so cheap now that I wouldn't even consider a store brand.

For a few dollars more I would always get the name brand. I just picked up an LCD for the bedroom for Christmas. Due to size and budget constraints it required going LCD. Again, it won't get used much. Occasionally my wife and daughter will watch something on the portable if I'm watching action adventure on the big TV. So 26" will be much better than 7" for them. Also although she's getting older my daughter will still have friends over leaving me without a TV.
I went for the cheapo Toshiba. It's supposedly 720p but it's a 1024 x 768. But again at that size hooked up to an extra HD player it looks fine. I could have saved a few dollars with one of the store brands or gotten a bigger set for the same money. After reading all the posts about people warning me not to be a cheap ass I bought the name. I hope it pays off.

For Plasma I'd get the Panasonic. Maybe, just maybe the Samsung if the price was right.
Otherwise I'd go LCD.
But as said, you can get that 42" Panny very cheaply now...awesome set. Best value out there.

yeah, I'd wait for a deal. I'm checking for a 1080p 42" panny plasma for my sister (I realize she probably can't tell the difference between 1080p/i, but figured it would be a better monitor when hooked up to a pc).
anyway, if I see anything that jumps out at me, I'll post the link.

Thanks for all the feedback. All of you basically reinforced what I already thought. I went to Best Buy Friday night and lucky for me they were out of the Panny ($849) so I went by Sears just for the heck of it and was able to get it for $699! Same exact price of the Dynex and Vizio models. Now if only I had a stand to put it on...

We have it on a wall-mount from www.monoprice.com - roughly $40 (at least at that time).

Last year I got one from videomount.com
Although anything I've ever ordered from monoprice has been price competitive

I wonder how much prices on the current 42" 720p Panny will come down in March when the new sets come out.
