Repo Chick (Cox, 2009): Sequel to Repo Man

From slashfilm:
Alex Cox’s Repo Man sequel Repo Chick is finally going into production next month (January 2009). Production Weekly reports that David Lynch is producing the project.

The original 1984 film told the story of Otto, a newly hired repossession man who goes in search for a mysterious Malibu carrying a high value package which was taken from a government lab and has strange effects on anyone who views it.

Cox has previously said that the follow-up will “unfold against the background of the credit crunch and the subprime mortgage crisis in the US, where repossessions of homes, cars and other forms of property is at a new high. ‘The repo business has expanded to everything from boats, houses, aeroplanes, small nations…children”.
If it were anyone other than Alex Cox directing a sequel to this beloved personal favorite, I'd be dismissive. With him in the chair though, I'll certainly remain open-minded.

Cool.

Cox has done a handful of stuff. But nothing big. I've only seen a few of them.

It'll be interesting to see how he handles [presumably] having the much larger budget.

Repo Man is on my top ten list. If Cox can keep the FA attitude intact things should be OK. With Lynch producing, keeping the FA attitude will probably be in the contract, so things should definitely be OK.

It seems like the time is right for it. I normally hate remakes or sequels to favorite cult movies, but this one seems like it could be great.

Shouldn't it be Repo Woman anyway? The first film wasn't Repo Guy.

They must have had a $100 budget to shoot, looks absolutely horrendous.

And a potential sequel to Bitch Slap.

If the movie were just the trailer, it's hilarious. But I can't stomache 90 minutes of that.

I'm out.

Trailer is clunky. Maybe the movie will be, too. Looks like a blast.

Those YouTube videos made by the 8-year-old kid had better production values.

That looks like a Cinemax skin flick without the nudity. Actually, the acting and special effects are worse than Cleavegefield.

Re: Repo Chick- Alex Cox directs

Maybe this is all an elaborate joke and the real trailer is still to come? If not, everyone involved was on some serious drugs if they thought this'd be good.

Re: Repo Chick- Alex Cox directs

I dunno....seems like the last thing that was good from Cox may have been Sid & Nancy. Well....the one that people gave a damn about. The rest of his films I've never heard of.

^ But at least he got Chloe Webb back for another movie...giving what looks like her most embarrassing performance yet.

Although I must admit, that repo chick is pretty cute.

I seriously can't tell if this is just a joke or the actual trailer to the film?
