(DEAD - AMAZON ITEM ERROR) Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives: Season 1 $7.99 at Amazon

Stumbled across this... I was watching the best of Triple D tonight, and saw a commercial for a book compiling receipes and reviews and what-not, and when I searched Amazon, it also has a listing for Season 1 on DVD.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001IQ1UT0

It says not in stock though...

Going to foodnetworkstore.com it's $29.99.

http://www.foodnetworkstore.com/p-12...eason-One.aspx

Ordered 2 copies of the DVD set, plus the book to get the free shipping.

12 episodes, plus bonuses...

I'm going to try to order this as a Christmas gift for a friend, but given the many $50+ Amazon Marketplace prices, I presume that this title isn't expected to return in stock.

I've seen this show on tv, and it's good but $7.99 for 23 minutes? No thank you.

23 minutes per episode....

From the Food Network site..

“Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives: The Complete First Season” lets you travel along with Guy to the unique places he visited during the first season of his hit show. The three-disc set includes all twelve episodes from Season One as well as additional footage from Guy’s travels.

Disc One: Join Guy as he eats his way through four great episodes: “Classics”, “That’s Italian”, “Blue Plate Special”, and “Breakfast”. Don’t miss classic American diner grub, great Italian food in unexpected places, off-the-hook specials and stellar breakfast joints!

Disc Two: Guy is on the hunt for hidden gems: “BBQ”, “Local Legends”, “Burgers”, and “House Specials” serve up heaping helpings of delicious BBQ, killer burgers, one of a kind dishes, and the kind of grub that legends are made of.

Disc Three: Come along for the ride as Guy travels to some classic eateries in “Retro”, “Worth the Trip”, “Diners A-Plenty”, and “American Cookin’”. Take a step back in time with some legendary joints, take the long way for excellent food, hit the diners for some surprises, and enjoy the local flavor at a few old standbys.

Closed captioned for the hearing impaired. Plus bonus footage: Another helping of Diners! Bonus recipe clips!

That would make more sense! Wondering why a whole season would be only 23 minutes! Maybe I will check this out. Thanks!

Amazon shows a dvd release date of November 8, 2008. If this is accurate, it seems logical that it would return to stock soon!

Edited to add: I decided to order it, so I hope I'm right!

Thanks, JP5683- I love this show and for $8, it'll be fun to watch and pass around to others.

I ordered this back on Sunday night and when I checked the status today, it now says that it will not ship until after Christmas.

Never thought this would come to dvd. Hmmm I might have to pick it up simply to rewatch when I plan to go on vacation to hit up a few of these places.

I've seen this at a couple of different Target stores in town. I thought it might be an exclusive for them, much like the Ace of Cakes set and some other Food Network titles have been. But I went ahead and placed an order with Amazon anyway -- I can wait until after Christmas at that price.

The product description doesn't sound like Diners Drive Ins & Dives. Wonder if it's a mistake. And it says 1 disc.

Got my order today and it was not Season One of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Instead they shipped "Food Network: Meals on DVD: Shop, Watch, Cook!: Simple Side Dishes". And I noticed that they have added a description to the page and it describes the dvd they sent me. So I emailed them to see if they are going to send me the right item or give me a refund.

I figured it was going to be something like that by the description. I ordered a few for gifts. Guess they're going back. Bummer.

I also received Food Network Meals on DVD: Shop, Watch, Cook! Simple Side Dishes instead of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, The First Season. After three different calls to Amazon the problem still exists. Twice they say the corrected it to send the right DVD and twice it shows up in my order history as the wrong DVD. As I type this I am on hold as they try to solve what is now being called a website issue. I am now told to wait for an email that will solve my problem. Anyone else have any luck getting the right DVD?

You will not be getting that set from Amazon. The whole listing was a mistake on their part. They never sold the originally listed set. I just got a refund and afterwards they fixed the listing to reflect the correct item.

Do you have to send back the wrong DVD?

Yes, you have to send back the wrong DVD, if you want the refund. Though I am sure there are ways to get them to let you keep it. I have heard of it being done in the past.

I'm just mad they screwed up and now I will have to waste my time mailing it back.

It's one of my favorite shows on Food Network. It makes you wanna jump in a car and start driving cross-country just to visit some of these places.

Ditto on this. Not only did they redirect the web page in my account but they altered the invoice with the Food Network Meals on DVD title to appear as if I had ordered this. This is an absurd tactic to cover their mistake. They should have just canceled outstanding orders with a "we're sorry but an error was made" email.

Recommend everyone save their original confirmation email to show what was really ordered in case they try to deduct return shipping from the credit amount due.
