To compare, Casino Royale opened to $40m which was the second highest opening for any James Bond movie (behind Die Another Day). Sucks that it's always the mediocre follow up that reaps the benefits of a great movie.

Also sucks that these Bond movies are making so much money meaning future Bonds won't go back to actually being Bond movies , just random spy movies with the main character named James Bond. Gone will be the gadgets, cheesy lines & other things that made Bond stand apart from other spys. As I head people say, Quantum could have easily just been a Borne movie.

Where the hell is Fantasy Mogul's Saturday 3 day prediction/update? It's 5:45 PM EST. They usually have this posted no later than 1:00 PM. Just curious what they have to say at this point.

I see Bond having a big weekend and then dropping like a stone as soon as word of mouth gets around about how bad it is.

Glad to see Zack & Miri sticking around. Aren't Smith's films out of the top 10 by week 3?

True, though the exception to the rule would be The Dark Knight...

yeah, i think clerks 2 did a 60% dropoff from week 1 to week 2. It really ony has to do 3 million more to beat his record of 30 mil per flick.

how many did you conduct your survey with, because if it is under 1,000 than i think the results are moot?

Do they release figures for sneak previews like Bolt? I'm wondering how it did on the 800+ screens last night. The one I saw it in was only about 1/3 full. Good movie but not a huge crowd.

The profits from sneaks are usually applied to another flick from the same studio. HSM3 maybe?

Minus the shitty, up-close herky jerky action scenes.

QoS was pretty good. I went to a 1145am showing and little people but the theatre throughout the weekend was packed. My early screening of Bolt was sold out. Fantastic movie and the crowd was into every second of it. It's going to bank.
