I don't think he'd be allowed to sue Nolan. He'd have to go after either WB as the distributor or more likely DC as the owner of the property.

Such a coincidence that this happens when one film makes close to $1B before you even get into media sales. Where have they been the last 70+ years while the property was circulating in other types of media?....

That is hilarious.

They're just after some publicity. This will be thrown out because Batman has been an iconic character known worldwide for over 60 years - and if they were going to sue over the name they could have done so long ago. They gave up their right to sue by NOT suing back when this would have originally been an issue.

But it's still hilarious - just the blatant stupidity of the thing!

Not to matter, the guy has no standing to sue, least in America.

I think he's got a good shot, and I know a thing or two about this. My name is Bartholomew J. Titanic, and in 1998 James Cameron released a film titled after my namesake that implied that Titanics were unsound and foolhardy. I sued Cameron (not the company who designed the boat), and now I have a mansion and I'm married to a Kate Winslet made of solid gold.

I hope Nolan has a good team of lawyers.

Wow. They really damaged your good name

If anything, Nolan, WB and DC should sue that mayor, because Batman represents good over evil, justice, and a town full of murder and female suicides (what the hell?) is a threat to Batman's reputation!

I suppose the next lawsuit will be directed at Joel Schumacher by the mayor of Mr. Freeze...

I would actually have no problem with someone suing Joel Schumacher, but after years of research I must regretfully conclude that you cannot sue someone for being a talentless drain on the concept of entertainment.

Meanwhile, the neighboring town of Meet Dave simply shrugged and went on with their lives.
