Movie that changed Your Outlook on Life?

Has one movie ever changed the way you lived your life? If so, which one and how?

no. they're just movies. they aren't real. unless you are talking documentaries as well, then...no. but those do make you think.

even though they are just movies, i believe movies can be agents for change. Just like books.

Movies have changed my outlook on life more than any other medium. I know musicians will claim it's the music that moves you but it's movies for me. I can't think of any movies in particular right now.

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER. The line where Tony's boss says "You don't F*** the future, the future F***s you. It catches up to you and if your not ready it F***s you."

Can't say it's actually changed my outlook on life, but recently 25th Hour made me appreciate my life and how good I actually have it.

I also remember being quite moved when I saw The Shawshank Redemption. The line "Get busy living, or get busy dying" is quite profound if you think about it.

There was a thread like this not too long ago.

I mentioned Insomnia. Great lessons on backing yourself into corners with lies.

Not going to write everything out again. Blah blah blah. Just merge the stinkin' thread.

American Pie (Really made me appreiciate the High-School years I'd had left back when I saw it in 2006 and now it's my senior year),
Into The Wild (Who didn't question their life?),
The Dark Knight (Some reason it just shows me that everyone has a bad side and it is unavoidable at times)

American Beauty - Feel better about life, existence and the can of worms etc.......
Memento - Last line in movie simply confirmed something in me. Can't explain it on this silly forum.

highly subjective topic, but if a film can do this it must have been done right.

Shawshank Redemption - It makes me feel like a new person.
Ghostbusters - Made me want to be a filmmaker.
Agree with Case01 on the American Beauty thing.

Pulp Fiction- Made me change from wanting to be a Geneticist to now be a Film Director.
Y Tu Mama Tambien- Made me appreciate the things I never saw in the commonality in my surroundings.
The Motorcycle Diaries- Made me think of the world and in an attempt to become a better part of it by helping others who need help.
Rocky- Made me want to work out and I did

Dead Poets Society really hit home with the whole Carpe Diem thing.

Fight Club made me re-assess my attitude towards materialism.

Black Hawk Down - Convinced me camaraderie can exist amongst people given the right situation, and despite it being covered in a ton of movies, this was the first I actually bought into.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Settle reminder, when I need it, that there is joy in mild recklessness.

A little known movie called Sweethearts with Janeane Garofalo . I had just come out of a long relationship and was feeling sorry for myself one day, and it helped show others have it worse, and theres someone for everyone.

QFT. I saw it on a bad day, and the whole idea of escaping into the Alaskan natural landscape, while I would probably not attempt to do it, really hit home as I was at the theater trying to clear my head, and the actions of the main character paralleled my reason for seeing it. Only movie from last year I almost started crying during.

Some others:

Pulp Fiction (made me want to get serious about writing screenplays)

The Shawshank Redemption (can't really explain, Unclesnazzy explained it best)

Requiem for a Dream (I never attempted to touch any form of illegal drugs, and only at my 21st birthday I started drinking)

And recently, Zack and Miri Make a Porno. Without spoiling anything, I find myself with a lot of anxiety over long-standing friendships falling apart for some reason, and in the end it's all a misunderstanding.

I don't know if there is such a film, but I know that if I need to clear my head and get a bit of perspective, I usually put in Baraka.
