Joaquin Phoenix to retire from acting.

Reporter doesn't believe him and Joaquin says he going to concentrate on his music.

If this is true, its a shame he is a very good actor. But man artist are so freaking loopy.

Too bad. He's had some good performances but good for him for being able to move on and focus on what he wants to do.

Do actors really 'retire'? They aren't like most of us that go into work everyday (unless they're filming). Can't they just stop taking offers and have that be the equivalent of retiring? Even if he goes out and says he's done we all know he'll still get hounded with scripts (and will likely backslide when he reads something good).

Whatever just happened to doing what you're going to do, and not announcing it?

As everyone else, he'll be back.

Jay-Z has taught us, that when someone says "retire," what they really mean is 2-year vacation.

Yeah, Jay Z taught us that.

It's not as if the Rolling Stones or The Who taught us that 25 years ago.

So he's moving into the Actors' Retirement Home with Anthony Hopkins, Liam Neeson, and Cate Blanchett?

And I believe all three announced retirements that they didn't keep.

His reaction to the reporter's laughing was classic. If this is a put-on by Joaquin "Don't Call Me Leaf" Phoenix, then it was Kaufman-esque. I bought it.

So if you want to see him act again don't buy his music.
Just like t.v. stars that appear in movies that bomb they stay on t.v. cause they then have no choice.

Too bad, I've liked most of his roles. I doubt this will stick, though.

He's a good actor. I hope his drug binge and subsequent rehab doesn't last very long.
