Deep Tiki (Crowe, TBA): Witherspoon and Stiller comedy
God help us. From here:
Clocking in only about 12 years fashionably late with his own volcano disaster (romantic comedy...same thing) flick, Cameron Crowe is hard at work on his until-recently hush hush new movie starring Ben Stiller and Reese Witherspoon.
The untitled adventure comedy has Stiller starring as disgraced weapons consultant Brian Gilcrest who has to journey to Hawaii to launch an advanced spy satellite in response to an unspecified impending threat from China, but apparently something different than their next batch of preschool gymnasts.
The Islanders, of course, are all for helping out, as long as their Hawaiian gods are down. This shouldn't be a problem for Gilcrest, as long as he can make good with one little quid pro quo the gods demand: tossing a sacrifice into the erupting volcano. What's even more diabolical is that, somewhere along the way, Gilcrest runs into former flame, Traci (Witherspoon) and her family and has to deal with the one that got away as he goes on a journey of self-discovery on the island.

Well, he ruined a remake of a good film with Vanilla Sky, so why not tackle a terrible film next time up?

Oh, and for what it's worth, Crowe doesn't do remakes. He does "cover versions".

No way. I disagree. Very underrated.

Joe Vs The Volcano is a great movie! I place it in the league of fairy tale movies like The Princess Bride. Very very underrated. Gets such a bad rap for some strange reason (maybe people didn't know what to expect).

I think it being a remake of 'Joe' is simply an editorial by the OP.

Correct. That's why I put the word remake in quotes. I was just being facetious. Since the film itself is still untitled, I figured the thread title would be temporary anyway. I definitely agree about Joe being an underrated film though.

Joe Vs. The Volcano is an absolute, no-holds-barred, 100% CLASSIC movie. One of the best comedies ever. If you think the movie is awful, I'd like ask what comedies from the last 20 years do you think are funnier.... or I'll break you with my bare hands!!!

Joe vs. The Volcano is a brilliant film. I can't account for it's bad reputation, but most people who bad mouth it haven't seen it. It holds up too. I saw the film for the first time in 2005 and it plays very fresh and contemporary.
