Tough choice between Ben-Hur and Bridge. Ben Hur is flawed, but I have to give it the edge only for the chariot race....

I voted for On The Waterfront. One of my favorite classics. I never saw Bridge Over River Kwai though.

I don't think I can vote in this one. I've only seen On the Waterfront and Marty from that list.

It was between Kwai and 80 days. I gave it to 80 days as that was a major event when I saw it with my family on TV in the 60s.

For me, this is really a three-way race. All About Eve, On the Waterfront and River Kwai.

But I picked All About Eve. I just find it the most entertaining of the three.

The Bridge on the River Kwai and Ben-Hur I love them to much to pick one over the other.

On the Waterfront. All About Eve is a classic film, but Sunset Blvd should have won in 1950.

It was between those two for me.
But since it has Jesus I went with BEN-HUR.

Usually I can find at least one great film out of ten Academy picks, but not for this decade. The only American film that makes my "best film of the year" list for the '50s is Ace in the Hole, 1951.
