Where to find info on HUGE discounts?

Every now and then, someone points out REALLY unusual markdowns--usually at Best Buy--on DVD items (or DVD extras such as toys or t-shirts) that apparently are about to go on clearance or closeout. But I haven't seen any such notices in quite a while.

These are often noted as being "YMMV." Several months ago someone pointed out how at BB you could get the Silver Surfer promo action figure for a penny (I bought 3), or get the Surfs Up toys for just three or four bucks.

My local BB indicated that some of the huge markdown items weren't really even supposed to be sold (esp those for a penny) but should have been put in the warehouse or something.

Anyway, I haven't seen these sorts of BB 'closeout' threads in quite a while. Am I looking in the wrong place, or are they just not happening any longer? I ask because there are several promo action figures that I'd love to catch on big-time sale again.

fatwallet.com just had one of these last night. For a Simpsons Bart figure for a penny that came with the simpsons movie. My store wrote me it was not in stock and its sold out now. Check out other forums like Fatwallet and slickdeals for postings.

It seems like news of a deal like this starts with someone trying to purchase something, only to find out it rings up for free (or a penny).

By the way, welcome to the forum LarryWB!

if you just search all dvds and select the search filter to "price low to high" then it'll bring up any of their stock that has been pennied.

so i just check this every now and then: best buy

These have been really helpful suggestions. As much as I go to BB's website and play around, I should have thought about doing the 'low to high' trick!
