HDTV speakers

Is it normal for LCD Tvs to have low volumes because I am using a 19' Sharp LCD in my room and the volume tends to be very low especially on DVDs. My friend also has the same problem with his 32' LG LCD TV. Is this normal for LCD TV's or is it a DVD player problem. Also I was wondering if it is possible to hook up a Fender Guitar Amp with AUX inputs to a TV for louder sound?

Check the DVDp for a night mode or dynamic volume compression, something like that.

To amplify the tv speakers, no. To amplify other speakers, not likely. What is the dvd player set for and what kind of audio stream is it sending to the tv?
