Sadly, Secondspin.com has raised the prices on a lot of their tv sets so this deal kinda stinks when you add in shipping and tax costs. Rescue Me and Rome are a few examples.

I was hoping secondspin would have this deal up again soon. I got some great deals on the Akira 2-disc, Star Wars set, and Traffic Criterion a few weeks ago. All in mint condition.

Yeah TV sets aren't really worth it with the tax and shipping. I've found the only sale where I really get some good deals is the heynow 20% off and free shipping sale.

i think the trick is to be patient, some of these sets get marked down and then go back up. on the last sale star trek season 3 was a good deal, now it's still price cut but at a higher price while season one was slashed down.

I've never ordered from SecondSpin.com before, I have been to one of their stores a long while ago.

How is their shipping and condition of the discs/artwork/discs?

I'd hate to have to pay to replace most of the cases if I do decide to order from them.

I was actually surprised that Second Spin had some of these titles.

99% of the time they look pretty much new. the star trek season 3 set i bought on the last sale was pretty trashed, it looked like something had been spilled on it. i emailed them and they emailed a prepaid postage label and i sent it back, the replacement set should show up this week. i've ordered from them numerous times and been completely happy with condition.

I only find the condition acceptable 75 percent of the time.

So far everything I have received from Secondspin was in mint condition. I'm hoping this streak will continue with my last order.

I've never had a problem with the condition of an item from SecondSpin. Although, on my last order, they sent the regular cut, rather than the director's cut of a DVD I ordered. One e-mail, and they sent the correct version (well, I'll see when I get it), and didn't ask for the return of the incorrect one.

My only complaint is the slow shipping to Canada, but it's really not a big deal.

Hopefully I'll have some of the luck you all have had with condition of discs from Second Spin.

In essence I guess I don't mind replacing cases, if the artwork isn't damaged at all (creases, tears, etc.)

I've bought from them for years, and the condition is usually mint condition. They do put used stickers on the dvds, but they typically can peel off easily.

Annnd...now I get a ship notification e-mail that says one DVD is cancelled, and another e-mail that says I was refunded for a different one o.O

I got my shipping notification for all my items yesterday. Hopefully living in the same state where the items are being shipped will help the speed a little.

Sometimes they even send you sealed stuff.

My order included the tin of Akira, for which I was refunded--but my order status on the site and the e-mail they sent said Attack of the Killer Tomatoes is what didn't ship.

If the error is on the refund, I'm going to have to wrestle with my ethics to figure out if I should be a good boy and call them to tell them.
If the error is on the shipping I'll be mightily annoyed since that was the whole reason I MADE a second order (though it IS my fault, if I recall--you do get to choose, right, whether to cancel or send everything else?).

But it'd still be a pretty crap loss to miss out on the OOP title I picked :\

Got my order today. Guess it helps to live in the same state as one of the distribution centers.

Going through the DVD's now to make sure everything is alright.

Some interesting things to note:

-The sent me the wrong DVD. Sent me "Contaminated Man" instead of Lucio Fulci's "Contamination". I'm still figuring out if I want to bother to exchange it.

-The Toxic Avenger DVD I bought is a Limited Edition (with seal on front). Inside is a insert signed and numbered by Lloyd Kaufman
