Hancock BLU-RAY 11/25/08
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that they will release the Will Smith summer hit 'Hancock' on Blu-ray on November 25th, day-and-date with the DVD release. No technical specs have been announced at this time, but expect the typical 1080p AVC video accompanied by a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack.
Special features have also yet to be announced, but we should learn more sometime next week.

From HD Digest:
"Sony Pictures has set final specs for the November Blu-ray release of 'Hancock,' which will include an unrated version of the film, high-def exclusives, and Digital Copy."
"Presented in separate unrated and theatrical versions (accessible via seamless branching), 'Hancock' will feature a BD-50 dual-layer presentation in 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround audio.
Newly-confirmed bonus features include a suite of seven featurettes ("Superhumans: The Making of Hancock," "Home Life," "Seeing the Future," "Suiting Up," "Building a Better Hero," "Bumps and Bruises," "Mere Mortals: Behind the Scenes with 'Dirty Pete'"), plus a Digital Copy of the film included on a second standard DVD.
Exclusive to the Blu-ray is the "On-Set Visual Diary" picture-in-picture (BonusView) commentary, provided on both the unrated and theatrical versions.
Suggested list price for the Blu-ray has been set at $39.95."

While I enjoyed the theatrical cut and will probably buy the pg-13 cut if it's the only version available, I'm really hoping they give us the R rated extended cut we've been hearing so much about. The movie could have definitely benefitted from a darker, harder edge to it, IMO.

Second on the edgier version and I would probably blind-buy it. I thought the theatrical was ok but I was a little underwhelmed. Couldn't believe that some were predicting that as the summer moneymaker over Dark Knight.

Does a film like this even warrant an R rated version?

Extra 10-15 minutes? Good. The film was incredibly short and felt like it was missing key scenes. Still enjoyable, even though it fell apart halfway through.

I'm waiting to hear just how much is added into this... I'm hoping it's substantial and not just a few F-bombs... I'll probably buy it anyway, but this movie could really use the fleshing out to improve it IMO.

Did anyone else go to the Best Buy reward zone shopping event tonight? They were selling Hancock early. I just picked up my copy. Price was $29.99, but I'm glad to have it early.

Wow, really? Mine's not for a couple hours so I might actually go and check it out. Any other "deals" to be had?

I would have bought in, but I just hated the second half of the movie and had to pass. However, it was very cool that they were able to break street date on it and Tenacious D Complete Masterworks 2. Odd that Sony let them break street date for the event. You would think it would piss off other retailers even if it was a so called private event.

I liked the flick. I know I might be in the minority, but I'm used to it, so I could care less. Even with the "twist" that was easily seen coming, It was still an enjoyable 90 minutes. I'll buy it.
