Weird HDMI Problem (Sharp Aquos, LCD42D62U)
I've owned a Sharp Aquos 42 inch LCD TV for approximately a year and a half now. Within the last 7 months or so, I've encountered a weird problem on an occasional basis, where my TV will not give me any sound through HDMI Input #1 (which is the fourth input on the TV.) It's the input that I use for my XBOX 360. Sometimes, I'll turn the console on and I won't have any sound (only video) and it'll fix itself within a couple of hours if I turn it off and go do something else for a while. Other times, the sound will be working, but it'll disappear if I turn the TV off for a second (I hate leaving my TV on when I leave the room for a few minutes.)
I'm not sure if it's the TV or the cord, but I'm thinking about trying to return the TV as a precautionary measure. The reason being is that I don't have any extra HDMI cables that I can try out and Microsoft wants me to ship my HDMI cable away to them before they'll send me a replacement and I'd like to not be without one for a while. I just sent my XBOX away and they wouldn't allow me to send the cable with it.
Has anyone heard of this problem? I'm worried that it might be the TV because it only happens occasionally and it sometimes only happens when I turn the TV on or off. I'm considering calling the store I bought the TV from today, since I paid for a four year warranty.
