Hey guys, I'm going to replace my older Sony ES receiver with one of these Onkyo's soon. I've heard some pretty good things about the 606, but hardly anything about the 705. I think the biggest difference is the 705 has THX and the 606 does not. The 705 is only about $100 more than the 606 on Amazon, is it worth it?

The 705 has pre-outs and the 606 doesn't. The 705 also has a better amplifier (how much better, I'm not sure). The 606 has 4 HDMIs in and the 705 has 3.

It depends on your needs and if you want to spend the little extra. I debated with myself and got the 606.

THX certification means little.

Go with the 705 if you want the pre-outs. Go with the 606 otherwise IMO.
