Simple (but not) hookup question.
Just got a new LCD tv for the bedroom, it's 7 months old but owned by a buddy of mine. Here is the problem which I have never seen before.
I have the HD box hooked up with Component and I decided to hook up the PS2 via S-Video. When I switch inputs to S-video, I can get the video playing but the sound is coming from the cable. Example, I was playing Final Fantasy VII but Family Guy was coming out of the speakers. I tried plugging the Red/White cables in every outlet but no sound. Also, if the PS2 is turned off, no sound will be coming out either, only when the PS2 turns on is when Family Guy starts blaring out of the speakers.
Any ideas? I tried messing with the settings but that didn't help.

That's just weird. Wild guesses:
1) You've got your audio wired incorrectly. The TV has auto-sense, so it doesn't turn on sound for the Svideo input until the PS2 fires up. But then it's the wrong sound since the wiring is off.
2) Somebody in the next room has your remote and is toying with your mind.
3) Complete failure of the LCD internals? Maybe that's why your friend passed it on.

Your description is for video cables. Forgetting the red/white audio cables for a minute, are you using a coax or optical cable for audio? If so what input is that going to?

I am not using a coax or optical for audio. My HD Box is connected via component and red/white audio cables and my PS2 is connected via S-Video and red/white audio cables as well.

What Brian means (and I should have thought of) is that your component and Svideo wires are plugged into the same input on the TV. Perhaps you have only one input. If that is the case, I recommend a simple switch to change audio. They run under $20.
