Digital coax, can a regular RCA cable be used?

Digital coax, can a regular RCA cable be used?
my cable box only have digital coax out not optical, since I'm cheap and already have some spare rca cables will an rca cable work?

Yes, 99.9% of the time you won't have a problem.

Everyone's got spare RCA cables lying around. Digital audio is a great cheap use for them.

The video (yellow) cable would be the best one to use as it has the highest likelihood of matching a "digital" cable's impedance.
