You want them in their prime, or the best sounding?

All I have is the Live: Shit, Binge & Purge set, which is good enough for me.

Only three official live DVD releases, all IMO are fantastic. Snowmaker mentioned Live Shit already and you can also get Cunning Stunts, and S&M.

Well if you want live concerts you have I believe 3 choices.

first up is the S&M DVD. This is the concert that they did with the full orchestra. Good show good sound.

Next up would be Cunning Stunts. This is from I believe the Load tour. Good sound good show.

Last up would be the box set Live Shit Binge and Purge. This is a 2 DVD + 3 CD set. The first DVD is from Seattle in 1989 from the And Justice For All Tour. The second DVD is Sand Diego 1992 from the Black Album tour. The 3 CD's are from Mexico City on the Black Album Tour. All great shows. The CD's sound great. The DVD's are just OK. They didn't really do much cleanup or anything on the picture when they brought it over to the DVD. Same goes for the sound. It is not 5.1 The stereo mix is good, not great. I think I picked this up for 35 bucks when it first came out years ago. Not a bad value for 3 complete concerts.

The picture and sound are better on Cunning Stunts, but I like the shows on Live Shit better.

Man, what a difference the proper placement of punctuation can make in a DVD title. "Live Shit: Binge and Purge" is how it should be .

The only of their concert discs I've seen are "Cunning Stunts" and "Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony". I really didn't enjoy the latter, but "Cunning Stunts" was really good.

I can only speak to Cunning Stunts but it is absolutely awful. I had only gotten it because they play some of their old songs, but they don't even play them right. Terrible stuff IMO.

Cliff 'Em All is your best bet, but the quality of the video and sound is awful, they are mostly crappy bootlegs. Still, at least the vid is from when they were actually still good.

That was a cool comparison wishbon3. Thanks! I'm definitely in the Cliff 'Em All/Live Shit: Binge & Purge camp.

Is the LS: B&P stuff even on DVD in R1? Can't find any listings for it on Amazon.

NEVERMIND - looks like it only shows up under a Music search and not a DVD search.

S&M: has a proper 5.1 that kicks ass and great picture

Live Shit: Seattle show on is a great performance, but the San Diego shows sucks [the camera shots/edits suck]... too bad there's no 5.1 on it.

Cunning Stunts: it's good all around. Would'a preffered a Re-Load tour show.

Live Shit is pretty sweet. I watch that one more than the other ones.
