Visit Mister Rogers' Neighborhood of Make Believe
This is the 40th year of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
WQED Pittsburgh is having an Open House where visitors can visit the set of this beloved series:
WQED Pittsburgh announced future events to commemorate the 40th year, including a summertime Open House where visitors can see the full set of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe and plans to name Studio A, the home of the Neighborhood, in honor of Fred Rogers. “In this studio at WQED, Fred Rogers, the cast of the Neighborhood, camera and technical crew became a family,” said George L. Miles, Jr., president and chief executive officer of WQED Multimedia. “Forty years later, that family remains, and the Neighborhood that Fred Rogers created is now worldwide.”

Well, I asked someone who worked at Fred Rogers' company if the set was still standing all these years, and he said that at the time (which was 6 months ago), the set was in storage.
So, I'm guessing they're pulling the set out of the mothballs for this event.

Usually, Mr. Rogers would take us to the Neighborhood of Make Believe via Trolley. But every now and then, he would go into the kitchen instead and pull a bunch of models of the various buildings off his shelves. I always wanted a set of those models.

I met Mr. Rogers once and he was just as nice in person as he was on TV.
A class act all the way.

Agreed

I always wondered why they didn't use the models more.
