Which do you prefer for you comedic TV news? Most of the time Colbert's first half is better but I think Stewart is the better interviewer. Colbert's isn't bad by any means though and that british guy on Stewart annoys me, Colbert gets the edge.

Honestly I don't usually watch the interviews, I tend to watch the 1st half of both shows, and of late I've been enjoying colbert more.

I don't watch the interviews either unless it's somebody I really want to hear. Colbert is a whole lot funnier to me, both in his presentation and references.

Colbert is miles ahead of Stewart at this point. I haven't bothered to watch TDS in at least a year.

Colbert easy

This is not even close. Colbert does a spot on parody every single night. Stewart has lost a lot of juice now that the Democrats have taken over Congress. It's much easier to make liberal jokes when the Republicans are in control. O'Reilly does not do a comedy show so I did not consider him in the poll.

I voted for Colbert, but the poll is pretty unfair in some ways. Colbert had the privilege (or burden) of creating his own show. Stewart took over TDS and, while making changes, has stuck to the core of what that show was. Stewart's TDS is responsible at least in part for giving us Colbert in the first place. Finally, TDS has a lot more age on it than Colbert's show.

As a snapshot of how the shows are right at this second, it's perfectly valid. As an indication of what is the better show overall, it comes up wanting.

Making fun of Republicans and the Bush Administration = liberal

So that mean Jon Stewart was a conservative during his first two years on the show when he made fun of the Clinton Administration? (Or is "temporarily" a conservative when he makes fun of Hillary now?)

While some of his jokes are of the "screw'em all attitude"(referring to politicians of both sides), most of his barbs are based on a liberal mindset and worldview. Most of his jokes aimed at Clinton were not based on policy but strictly personal things.

I think Stewart represents a moderate, common sense mindset that despises the extremes of both fundamental conservatism and liberalism. Colbert has a similar mindset I feel, but since he's a parody of conservative pundits, his swipes are far more focused on conservatives than Stewart.

I feel that both shows are still great, and didn't vote because there was no "both" option.

While I think Colbert is leagues ahead of Stewart when it comes to carrying his show and improvisation, I enjoy the variety and writing on Stewart's show a bit better. It also seems to cover a bit more of the news, FWIW.
